Our principal products include gears and transmissions, accessory gearbox assemblies, rotorcraft drive systems, and other machined and fabricated parts for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. We also provide maintenance and repair and overhaul (MRO) on these platforms.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Quality Engineer is responsible for assessing process capability and supporting product and process qualifications. This position plays a key role with new production introduction, customer contract reviews (form part). This position also addresses and supports key account activities from quality assurance perspective. The Quality Engineer is in Northstar's Quality Department, and reports to the Quality Manager. The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary to facilitate quality assurance goals, but does not directly or indirectly supervise any other employees. This is a full-time position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assess the validity of statistical conclusions by analyzing the assumptions used and the robustness of the technique used. Define, interpret, and classify quality characteristics for new and existing products and processes Interpret specification requirements in relation to product and process characteristics and technical drawings, including characteristics such as views, title blocks, dimensioning and tolerancing, and GD&T symbols Evaluate/analyze parts using the appropriate inspection tools such as gage blocks, calipers, micrometers, dial bore gauge, optical comparators, etc. Actively participate in supplier management, including supplier qualification, certification, and evaluation Conduct, interpret and drive actions of failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) Conduct product and process qualifications and capability studies Review and improve manufacturing process for Quality Department Review and approve inspection planning for production parts Audit preparation and assistance for external audits when/as required Plan, conduct and report internal and supplier QMS or process audits (support function, not primary responsibility) Analyze all nonconformity data to determine results, document corrective actions and verify results Work with external customers on parts discrepancy verification and parts submittals to NCR process
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will not direct the work of any other employees.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education Required:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent (Other Engineering disciplines may be considered). CQE w/ strong statistical analysis capability required (Black Belt preferred). Minimum Green Belt with QE responsibilities
Experience Required:

- 10 year's work related experience as a Quality Engineer for Aerospace company or High Tech manufacturing/precision machining environment
