Job Description
About Empire Comfort Systems Empire Comfort Systems is a leading manufacturer of hearth and outdoor comfort products, part of Empire Group and family - operated since 1932. Our portfolio spans a family of respected brands, and our in-house print operation supports every one of them - producing the literature, manuals, signage, and labeling that carry our products from the factory floor to the dealer showroom. Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on Print Production Specialist to run our in-house print operation. This role is responsible for the day-to-day production of product literature, technical manuals, trade show and retail banners, product labels, and other printed materials that support our marketing and sales functions, as well as fulfilling and shipping those materials to customers. This is an entry-level opportunity well suited to someone with some print or production experience who is eager to learn, take ownership of the work, and grow their skills in a hands-on, multi-brand environment. Training will be provided on our equipment and processes. Key Responsibilities Produce a full range of printed materials, including sales literature, product and installation manuals, large-format banners and signage, and product labels. Operate, calibrate, and maintain print production equipment; perform routine maintenance and coordinate service as needed. Manage the complete production workflow — receiving and reviewing print-ready files, prepress checks, printing, finishing (cutting, binding, laminating, mounting), and packaging for delivery. Prioritize and schedule jobs to meet deadlines across multiple brands and internal stakeholders. Perform basic prepress file checks and make production adjustments to ensure correct output quality, with training and support provided. Maintain consistent color and quality standards, catching and correcting issues before materials are released. Manage inventory of paper, substrates, inks, labels, and other consumables; reorder to maintain stock without overbuying. Coordinate with outside print vendors for jobs that exceed in-house capabilities, and manage those relationships and specifications. Keep the print shop organized, safe, and compliant with relevant standards. Fulfill and ship printed literature and materials to customers, dealers, and field locations — picking, packing, preparing shipments, and coordinating with carriers. Maintain records of jobs, costs, and equipment maintenance. Qualifications Required Some hands-on experience in a print, production, or related environment — through work, internship, vocational training, or coursework. Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn to operate and maintain print production equipment. Basic familiarity with print files and design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat), or the ability to learn quickly. Strong attention to detail and reliable follow-through on deadlines. Ability to lift and handle materials, stand for extended periods, and operate production equipment safely. Dependable, organized, and comfortable managing a mix of jobs at once. Preferred Prior experience in a print shop, production, or manufacturing setting. Experience with Ricoh production equipment. Exposure to large-format printing, finishing, or label production. Coursework or training in graphic arts, print production, or a related field. Empire Comfort Systems is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
