Job Title:
Production Worker - Batch Mixing Department Job Description This role focuses on supporting high-volume food production in a batch mixing department by accurately preparing, mixing, and staging ingredients, operating machinery, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area. You will work with both dry and liquid ingredients, follow detailed recipes, and help ensure that products meet quality and safety standards in a GMP-regulated environment. Responsibilities Load and weigh dry ingredients according to established recipes and production requirements. Lift and handle bags and containers of ingredients, including individual lifts of up to 40 pounds. Set up, adjust, and operate machinery used for cooking and mixing, including liquid filler equipment and mixing tanks. Gather raw materials and ingredients from inventory and stage them at the correct workstations in advance of production runs. Follow recipes and batch instructions to mix and add ingredients in the proper sequence and quantities. Dump ingredients into tanks and kettles safely, including climbing ladders and working on mezzanines above kettles and tanks when needed. Monitor product during the cooking process, including waiting for product to cook and checking for any obvious issues. Clean and organize workstations, equipment, and surrounding areas to maintain a GMP-compliant and orderly environment. Cut open boxes, prepare packaging, and gather required materials to support efficient production and packaging. Assist with general production tasks such as packing, general labor, and machine operation as needed across the line. Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety procedures, and company policies while working around machinery and food products. Collaborate with team members and communicate any issues with ingredients, equipment, or processes to ensure smooth production flow. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience working in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) environment. At least 1 year of packaging experience in a production or manufacturing setting. At least 1 year of manufacturing or general production experience. Ability to operate and assist with machine operation in a production environment, including mixers, blenders, and packaging equipment. Comfort lifting up to 40 pounds individually on a regular basis. Comfort climbing ladders and working on a mezzanine above kettles and tanks, typically using 5-7 foot ladders and low mezzanine platforms. Ability to follow detailed recipes, batch instructions, and standard operating procedures accurately. Strong attention to cleanliness and organization in a GMP-regulated facility. Reliability to work a fixed schedule from Monday through Thursday, 2:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience with blending or batch mixing in a food or manufacturing environment. Experience using blenders, mixers, and other batch mixing equipment. Bilingual communication skills. Familiarity with general labor tasks such as packing, machine operating, and material staging. Comfort working around cooking kettles, tanks, and packaging machinery in a fast-paced environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a very clean, GMP-compliant production facility that includes packaging machinery, kettles and tanks for mixing, and organized inventory areas. The production floor features multiple tanks, machines, and packaging lines in a temperature-controlled environment, though it can feel warmer near cooking equipment and kettles. The facility is described as a very nice place to work and has a pleasant smell due to the food products being produced. The schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 2:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., offering consistent, long shifts within a four-day workweek. Employees work around active machinery and moving materials, following strict safety and cleanliness standards. The dress code requires wearing hairnets and, when applicable, beard nets, along with work pants and non-slip boots, and prohibits jewelry to maintain GMP and safety compliance. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Broadview, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.05 - $18.05/hr.
