Job Description
Position Summary:
The Blast Operator is responsible for 1) loading and unloading parts into the blast equipment and 2) operating the blast equipment, both automated and hand blasting in a miniature blast cabinet. Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to): Utilize crane to load and unload parts from blasting area. Measure blast profile using compression tape method. Visually inspect parts to ensure cleanliness and blast profile coverage after blasting. Prioritize work based on Cell Leader instruction. Visually inspect parts that have been blasted to ensure quality of work. Record results. Ability to recognize nonconforming/defective products. Key in labor after completion with the following information: Operator number, work order number, operation, release, quantity accepted, quantity rejected, and discrepancy code. Perform basic equipment maintenance (checks and lubrication) and report equipment issues. Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Essential Qualifications /
Experience:
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Must be able to lift parts weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance, any parts weighing over 50lbs requires a team lift or use of an overhead crane. Must have basic blueprint reading skills to interpret engineering drawings and specifications necessary to perform job. Must have basic math skills including addition / subtraction of fractions and decimal values for determining material, manufacturing, and inspection requirements. Must have ability to read measuring instruments not limited to but including tape measure, mil. Thickness gage, and fluid measuring units, and callipers. Must have basic reading / writing ability to read and interpret manufacturing orders and material requirements and to report production. Must be able to stand for 8 hours per day.
