Job Title:
General Production Worker - Electronic Assembly Job Description This role focuses on electronic assembly of switches used in military, government, agriculture, and healthcare applications. You will work with small parts, precision hand tools, and PC boards to build high-quality components while following detailed instructions and maintaining strong attention to detail throughout your shift. Responsibilities Assemble electronic switches and components according to work instructions and quality standards. Work with small parts and demonstrate strong hand-eye coordination when handling and assembling components. Use hand tools and power tools to build and secure various component parts. Gather and organize all materials and components needed to complete assigned assemblies. Place and secure components onto printed circuit boards (PC boards) with precision and care. Follow established procedures for electronic assembly, including safe handling of tools and materials. Maintain focus and attention to detail while working at an individual workstation. Stand or sit for extended periods throughout the shift, depending on task requirements. Meet productivity and quality expectations in a manufacturing environment with multiple workstations in a row. Support overtime requirements by working additional hours as needed, typically resulting in 50-60 hours per week. Essential Skills Experience working with small parts and demonstrated good hand-eye dexterity. Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively in an assembly environment. Comfort placing components onto printed circuit boards (PC boards) with precision. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures. Ability to stand or sit for most of the shift and perform repetitive tasks. Willingness and ability to work significant overtime, including 3-4 extra hours daily, for a 50-60 hour workweek. Availability to work 1st shift (approximately 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m., with openness to starting at 5:30 a.m.) or 2nd shift (approximately 3:45 p.m.-12:15 a.m.). Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience as an electronic assembler or in electronic assembly is highly beneficial. Solder certification is a plus and may enhance your qualifications. Experience with soldering in an electronic assembly environment is advantageous. Experience with pick-and-place equipment is a plus and may support a higher pay rate. Background working with electronic components, switches, or similar products is helpful. Why Work Here? Work Environment You work in a manufacturing environment with long rows of benches, each row containing approximately five workstations. The culture is laid back but results-oriented, with leadership expecting you to understand your responsibilities and complete your work without constant supervision. You spend most of your shift at your own station, using hand tools, power tools, and working directly with electronic components and PC boards. The schedule includes both 1st and 2nd shift opportunities, with 1st shift typically running from about 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (with flexibility to start at 5:30 a.m.) and 2nd shift from about 3:45 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. Overtime is common, and you can expect 3-4 additional hours per day, resulting in 50-60 hour workweeks. The facility conducts temperature checks and brief health screenings when you arrive and again toward the end of your shift to support a safe workplace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of McCook, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $15.00/hr.
