Job Description

Job Title:
Production Associate Job Description The Production Associate plays a key role in the cradle-to-grave manufacturing of highly specialized magnet wire products in a new, highly automated production facility. In this role, you handle raw materials, set up and monitor fully automated production lines, perform quality checks, and move finished products using overhead cranes and forklifts. You work in a clean, temperature-controlled environment that supports demanding automotive customers, following detailed specifications and maintaining high standards of safety, accuracy, and cleanliness. Responsibilities Handle raw materials to prepare them for production, including staging and organizing materials for the production line. Load production lines by feeding raw wire into the automated equipment as required. Read and understand specification sheets to set up machines correctly and adjust parameters when needed. Operate fully automated, continuous production lines and monitor their performance throughout the shift. Troubleshoot basic machine issues while equipment is running, using mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Monitor and interpret information from HMI touchscreens to ensure the production line meets quality and process standards. Pull in-process enamel samples at required intervals and document all in-process updates by hand with clear and accurate records. Use an overhead crane to safely move finished spools of wire from the line to designated areas. Operate a forklift approximately 15% of the time to move raw materials and finished products within the facility and warehouse. Perform quality inspections of products, including visual checks and measurements, to verify they meet detailed specifications. Use basic hand tools and measurement tools, such as tape measures, to verify dimensions and support machine setup. Assist with packaging, packing, and loading finished products for storage or outbound shipment. Maintain a clean, organized, and near-clean-room work area by following strict housekeeping and cleanliness standards. Follow all safety procedures, including safe operation of machinery, forklifts, and overhead cranes, and use required protective equipment. Work independently on assigned lines, staying self-motivated and focused on quality and productivity without constant supervision. Support general production, assembly line tasks, and other manufacturing duties as needed to keep the operation running smoothly. Communicate effectively with team members and leadership regarding production status, issues, and improvement opportunities. Adhere to attendance and performance expectations to remain eligible for attendance-based incentives and advancement opportunities. Essential Skills Ability to work safely around automated machinery, overhead cranes, and forklifts. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly during 12-hour shifts. Comfort working at heights, including using grated stairs to reach a second-floor level. Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a 2/2/3 schedule (including days or nights as assigned). Willingness to be trained on forklift operation, even without prior forklift experience. Ability to read, write, and understand written work orders and documentation in English. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed specification sheets and quality standards. Mechanical aptitude and comfort with machine operation, basic troubleshooting, and mechanically inclined tasks. Ability to multitask and manage several activities at once while monitoring automated lines. Willingness and ability to work independently without constant supervision while maintaining productivity and quality. Strong tenure and reliability in previous roles, demonstrating commitment and consistent work history. Comfort working in a structured, quality-focused manufacturing environment with strict cleanliness and process requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in manufacturing, general production, or machine operation. Experience in warehouse or construction environments, which translates well to this role. Prior forklift certification or forklift operating experience. Experience with quality inspection, including visual inspection and measurement verification. Experience in assembly, assembly line work, or packaging and packing operations. Experience using hand tools and measurement tools, such as tape measures. Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints or technical documentation. Experience with troubleshooting mechanical issues on production or industrial equipment. Mechanical or mechanically inclined experience that supports understanding of automated processes. Experience working in clean, regulated, or high-specification environments, especially serving automotive or similar industries. Demonstrated soft skills such as reliability, strong work ethic, teamwork, and willingness to learn. Previous lead experience in manufacturing or production environments, which may support future advancement into lead-level roles. Why Work Here? You join a rapidly growing, highly automated operation that offers clear paths for career and financial growth. The environment is clean, modern, and temperature controlled, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Once converted to full-time, you become eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, 11 paid holidays, paid breaks while on-site, and paid vacation days after a qualifying period. Competitive hourly rates increase over time after conversion, and advancement opportunities into higher-level roles can lead to significant pay growth. A structured attendance incentive program, including a gift card for perfect attendance during the initial period, rewards reliability and strong performance. The culture values self-motivation, strong tenure, and individuals who want to learn, take pride in their work, and grow with a stable, expanding business. Work Environment You work in the new 700 building, a highly automated, temperature-controlled production area that closely resembles a clean room. The facility is very clean, organized, and less industrial in feel, with processes designed to meet stringent requirements for automotive and other regulated customers. Production lines are 100% automated and continuous, so the work is relatively easy on the body, with the equipment performing the heavy tasks while you focus on material handling, monitoring, and quality checks. You use HMI touchscreens, overhead cranes, forklifts, and standard hand tools in your daily work. The role follows 12-hour shifts on a 2/2/3 schedule, with first shift running 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and third shift running 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM. The environment requires high attention to detail, cleanliness, and self-motivation, and you are expected to help maintain a tidy workspace and support a professional atmosphere where customers may be present on-site. Dress and conduct should be appropriate for a clean, safety-focused manufacturing setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Franklin, IN.
