Job Description

Process Engineer, General Assembly (SUV Production) Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Process Engineer with strong automotive manufacturing expertise to support the development, implementation, and optimization of world-class production systems within a General Assembly environment. This individual will play a key role in designing and improving manufacturing processes that drive safety, quality, efficiency, and cost performance. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of assembly operations, tooling, equipment integration, and continuous improvement methodologies. In addition to technical expertise, this person will be a collaborative problem solver who can effectively communicate across teams, mentor others, and contribute to a positive manufacturing culture. This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact within a growing and innovative production organization. Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, validate, and optimize manufacturing processes to support production objectives.

Lead process development efforts for new and existing products, including workstation design, tooling integration, and ergonomic improvements.

Support new product launches by creating process flows, PFMEAs, control plans, standard work, and launch readiness documentation.

Analyze production performance data to identify bottlenecks, improve cycle times, and increase process capability and repeatability.

Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for process-related issues originating from production, suppliers, or customers.

Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Supply Chain teams to ensure manufacturing processes align with product and operational requirements.

Support facility layout planning, equipment selection, and material flow improvements to enhance throughput and operational efficiency.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, uptime, error-proofing, and cost reduction.

Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, process maps, and training materials.

Monitor key manufacturing metrics including cycle time, scrap rates, downtime, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), developing action plans to improve performance.

Train and mentor technicians, operators, and engineering team members on process standards, best practices, and problem-solving methodologies.

Required QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Minimum of 6 years of Process Engineering experience within automotive or other high-volume manufacturing environments.

Demonstrated experience supporting General Assembly operations, including equipment launches, commissioning activities, and production ramp-up.

Experience supporting startup, greenfield, or rapidly scaling manufacturing operations is preferred.

Technical SkillsStrong knowledge of automotive assembly processes, tooling, ergonomics, and manufacturing quality systems.

Experience with PFMEA development, Control Plans, process capability studies, and structured problem-solving methodologies.

Proficiency with engineering design and layout software such as AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar platforms.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to drive process improvements and operational efficiency.

Proven ability to deliver measurable improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and engineering documentation systems.

CompensationCompetitive compensation will be offered based on factors including experience, education, technical expertise, certifications, geographic location, and overall qualifications.
Target Salary Range:
$109,000 - $163,000 annually In addition to base compensation, a comprehensive benefits package may be available, including healthcare coverage, retirement plans, paid time off, and other employee wellness programs. #IND1#ZR
