Finishing Associate Job Description The Finishing Associate operates production equipment and leads a small crew to complete finishing tasks accurately and efficiently. This role ensures that finished products meet defined quality standards, production waste remains controlled, and all work is completed safely and in accordance with job instructions and documentation requirements. Responsibilities Read job tickets carefully and print out all required instructions before starting production. Set up and operate finishing equipment according to job specifications and safety procedures. Continuously monitor product quality, including squareness of books, overall size, and smoothness of edges, ensuring there are no knife marks or other defects. Control and reduce product waste by monitoring downtime and identifying excessive bad trimmed product. Communicate quality standards clearly and ensure all crew members understand and follow them. Lead the crew by demonstrating proper work practices and providing ongoing training and guidance. Ensure each crew member performs their job safely, correctly, and efficiently, and can perform the duties of their peers when needed. Maintain accurate records, including downtime logs and job reports, and submit them as required. Follow all safety guidelines, housekeeping standards, and production procedures to maintain a safe and organized work area. Collaborate with other staff members to resolve production issues and maintain smooth workflow. Essential Skills Experience in production, general production, or manufacturing environments. Hands-on experience with machine operation and machine operating tasks. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Basic reading and writing skills to interpret job tickets and complete reports. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with other staff members. Capability to monitor product quality and identify defects or inconsistencies. Ability to lead and train crew members in safe and efficient work practices. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in general labor roles within a production or industrial setting. Comfort working with production machinery and learning new equipment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards. Organizational skills to maintain accurate downtime and job reports. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Versailles, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00/hr.
