Full-Time Position Overview Cherry Coffee Roasters is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Executive Roaster to lead all roasting and production operations at our roastery. This position is responsible for maintaining the quality and consistency of every coffee we produce while overseeing inventory management, production scheduling, quality control, equipment maintenance, and daily fulfillment operations. The Executive Roaster serves as the steward of our coffee quality. This role requires a deep commitment to sensory development, production excellence, mechanical troubleshooting, and operational organization. The ideal candidate is obsessed with consistency, proactive in problem-solving, and passionate about producing exceptional coffee. Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Planning & Order Management Gather and review orders from Shopify, wholesale email orders, and internal café requests. Create and manage the daily production queue. Coordinate roasting and production schedules to ensure all orders are fulfilled accurately and on time. Maintain communication with the production team regarding daily priorities and deadlines. Production Roasting Perform production roasting on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Execute roast profiles with precision and consistency. Monitor roast data and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality standards. Maintain detailed roast records and production logs. Inventory Management Manage green coffee inventory and forecasting. Place monthly green coffee orders to maintain adequate stock levels. Monitor and order roastery supplies including: Tea and Matcha Chai bottles Chai labels Cold brew labels Shipping boxes and padded envelopes Alto filters Additional production and packaging materials as needed Production Oversight Supervise and support the Production Assistant. Ensure all coffee orders are accurately weighed, packaged, labeled, and staged for delivery. Verify production quality and fulfillment accuracy before orders leave the roastery. Maintain organized workflows that support efficiency and accuracy. Quality Control Conduct coffee cuppings twice weekly. Taste all coffees and compare against previous weeks to ensure consistency. Evaluate coffees for roast development, flavor quality, and adherence to Cherry standards. Identify quality issues and implement corrective actions when necessary. Contribute to ongoing refinement of roast profiles and sensory standards. Equipment Maintenance & Facility Operations Maintain roasting equipment in excellent working condition. Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance. Complete monthly stack cleanings. Conduct quarterly roaster maintenance procedures. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized production environment. Mechanical Troubleshooting Diagnose and resolve roasting equipment issues. Identify error codes and operational problems with the roaster. Utilize critical thinking and troubleshooting skills to minimize downtime. Work with remote technical support when necessary while independently resolving routine mechanical issues. Use diagnostic tools, including a multimeter, to identify electrical and mechanical issues. Required Skills Specialty Coffee Background a plus (those without please apply!) Strong sensory evaluation Ability to manage production schedules and inventory systems. Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting experience. Experience using a multimeter and basic electrical diagnostics. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to lift and move up to 55 pounds. Proficiency with spreadsheets, inventory tracking, and order management systems.
