We are looking for a Production Assistant to help us make our from-scratch ice cream, as well as some morning baking and other back of house prep! This position may allow flexible production hours for the right candidate, but will likely involve early morning shifts, with daily pastry baking happening at 6:00am, followed by ice cream production. Our ideal schedule for this position would be a 4-5 day work week, likely Friday through Monday or Tuesday each week. Five 8-hour days or four 10-hour days is negotiable! This is a physical job, mostly requiring time on your feet, being in the moment, and paying attention to a delicate process. We make all of our ice cream and sorbets from scratch, from the bases to the mix-ins. We don't expect every candidate to have ice cream production experience (though that's a huge plus!), and we can teach you to use any equipment that is new to you! But a realistic candidate should have a functional kitchen/baking history, be comfortable reproducing exact recipes, weighing ingredients to the gram, and pride themselves on consistency and attention to detail. Ice cream is a temperamental product to begin with, so we're always trying to control as many variables as possible in order to create a delicious, consistent product! The upside is that our process creates a lot of opportunities to try new flavors, iterate on old flavors, and sample a lot of great ice cream--so, ice cream lovers welcome!
