Job Description

Full Job Description A Shipyard Laborer performs a variety of general labor and support duties associated with the construction, repair, maintenance, and servicing of vessels and shipyard facilities. This position requires the ability to work safely in an industrial marine environment while assisting skilled trades and completing physically demanding tasks.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist welders, fitters, mechanics, painters, electricians, and other skilled trades as needed. Load, unload, move, and stage materials, equipment, tools, and vessel components. Perform general vessel and shipyard cleanup, including removal of debris, scrap metal, and waste materials. Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, impact tools, and other basic shipyard equipment. Assist with vessel repairs, maintenance, demolition, fabrication, and installation work. Perform grinding, chipping, scraping, sanding, and surface preparation. Assist with rigging, lifting, and positioning materials and equipment under proper supervision. Work aboard vessels, on docks, staging, ladders, and in confined spaces as required. Set up and maintain work areas, temporary lighting, ventilation, hoses, cords, and equipment. Follow company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition. Perform other general shipyard duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform physically demanding work, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting materials and equipment. Must be capable of working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and in typical shipyard environments involving noise, dust, fumes, confined spaces, and work at heights.
Pay:
$20.00 – $25.00 per hour Expected hours: No more than 51.0 per week
