AUDIO VISUAL ASSISTANT

RATE OF PAY
: $16.24 per hour
HOURS :
Approx. 20 hours per week, with scheduled evenings & weekends when necessary.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
: An employee in this class edits video production material transports, sets‑up and operates portable video production equipment such as cameras, tape recorders, editing systems, studio control equipment, audio systems and lighting systems. Edits video production material into finished programs. Directs video productions in a multi‑camera studio environment. Works under the general direction of the Broadcast Media Supervisor. Interacts in a consistently pleasant and helpful manner to fellow employees, visitors and citizens of the City of Dearborn and demonstrates the highest standards of internal and external customer service.
QUALIFICATIONS
: Ability to lift, carry and operate video camera equipment. Ability to edit tape for visual and thematic quality. Ability to operate microcomputer equipment and related applications. Ability to climb and descend stairs and ladders while carrying lighting and other equipment. Ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work independently, learn assigned tasks readily, and to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, City officials and the general public. Performs related work as required.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
: Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent plus video production training in a college, trade school or production facility environment.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
: All applicants must provide a demonstration tape of their audio-visual abilities at the time of application.
NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
: Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check (including sex offender registry if applicable) and a drug screen that tests for illegal drugs as defined by the Federal Drug Free Workplace Act but not those legalized under Michigan law prior to start date.
