General Production Worker

Production Worker Job Description This role supports engine assembly and logistics operations in a fast-paced automotive environment. General Production Workers may work as Production Operators, focusing on the assembly and disassembly of engines, or as Material Handlers, operating forklifts and related equipment to move and ship engines. You will help ensure engines are processed accurately, safely, and on time for delivery to the manufacturing plant. Responsibilities Assemble and disassemble engines according to established procedures and quality standards. Remove and reinstall engine components on fully manufactured engines with close attention to detail. Apply coolant to engines and perform leak tests to verify product integrity and performance. Follow standardized work instructions and production schedules to meet daily output targets. Operate forklifts, tuggers, hi-lo, cherry pickers, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently. Move engines and related materials throughout the facility and stage them for production and shipping. Load and unload engines and materials in a fast-paced warehousing and shipping environment. Prepare engines for shipment and coordinate movement to the designated manufacturing facility. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with safety policies and procedures. Inspect equipment and materials for obvious defects or issues and report concerns promptly. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve production or material flow issues. Adhere to all company policies, including attendance, safety, and quality requirements. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience in a production or warehouse environment. A minimum of 1 year of machine operation and/or forklift/hi-lo experience. Proficiency in operating forklifts, tuggers, hi-lo, and similar material handling equipment in a fast-paced setting. Hands-on experience with general production, assembly, and general labor tasks. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and standard operating procedures accurately. Strong attention to detail when assembling, disassembling, and testing engine components. Capability to work safely around machinery and moving equipment. High School Diploma or GED. Ability to wear and use required personal protective equipment, including steel toe shoes or boots. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move materials, and perform repetitive tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lansing, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.75/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
