Job Description

  • Job Title:
    General Production Worker (Production Operator / Material Handler)
  • Job Description
  • This role supports engine assembly and logistics operations in a fast-paced manufacturing and warehousing environment. General Production Workers will work as Production Operators or Material Handlers, helping assemble and disassemble engines, perform basic quality checks, and move products safely throughout the facility using material handling equipment.
  • Responsibilities
  • + Assemble and disassemble engines for automotive applications, following established work instructions and safety procedures.
+ Remove and install engine components as required for the process, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. + Apply coolant and perform leak tests on engines to verify quality and identify potential issues. + Operate production and machine equipment safely and efficiently in a general production environment. + Drive and operate forklifts, hi-lo trucks, tuggers, and/or cherry pickers to move engines and materials as a Material Handler. + Transport engines and materials within a warehousing and shipping environment, maintaining proper flow to and from production areas. + Stage, load, and ship engines to the designated automotive facility in a timely and accurate manner. + Work effectively at multiple stations within the facility, adapting to different tasks as needed. + Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment such as steel toe shoes or boots. + Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area to support efficient production and material handling. + Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to coordinate work, report issues, and support continuous workflow.
  • Essential Skills
  • + At least 2 years of experience working in a production or warehouse environment.
+ At least 1 year of machine operation and/or forklift/hi-lo experience. + Ability to safely operate forklifts, hi-lo trucks, tuggers, and cherry pickers in a fast-paced setting. + Experience performing general labor, production, and assembly tasks. + High School Diploma or GED. + Willingness to submit to drug testing, including THC. + Ability to wear and use steel toe shoes or boots as required. + Comfort working in a structured, shift-based manufacturing and warehousing environment. + Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized work instructions.

  • + Experience working with engines or automotive components. + Previous experience in logistics, warehousing, or shipping operations. + Familiarity with leak testing or basic quality inspection processes. + Ability to work across multiple stations and adapt to changing production needs. + Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

The Holt facility includes five stations and a fast-paced production and shipping environment where engines arrive fully manufactured and are processed, tested, and moved for shipment. Team members work in a shift-based structure: first shift runs from 6:30 AM to 2:42 PM, second shift from 2:30 PM to 10:42 PM, and third shift from 10:30 PM to 6:42 AM, with the work week starting on Sunday night for third shift. All individuals hired before a specified date are earmarked for a particular shift but begin on first shift (6:30 AM-2:42 PM, Monday-Friday) for initial training. The work environment involves regular use of forklifts, hi-lo trucks, tuggers, cherry pickers, and other material handling and production equipment. The facility requires steel toe shoes or boots and adherence to safety protocols, supporting a structured and professional industrial setting.

  • This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lansing, MI.
  • Pay and Benefits
  • The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.75/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
