Job Title:
General Production Worker Job Description This role works on a fast-paced production line assembling materials, operating machines, and preparing finished parts for shipment. You will inspect parts for quality, handle components safely, and rotate through different positions on the line based on your skills and preferences. The position is on 3rd shift and requires flexibility to work overtime and some weekends in a plastic manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Work on the production line assembling materials and components according to established procedures. Operate production and manufacturing machines safely and efficiently under the guidance of an experienced operator. Lift parts off the line, perform visual inspections, and place them into boxes for shipment. Inspect parts thoroughly for defects such as scratches, paint marks, dents, or other imperfections before packaging. Assemble components and ensure the line is correctly attached before placing parts in boxes. Rotate through various positions on the production line to support team needs and match preferred tasks. Handle materials safely, including lifting plastic and foam components and positioning them at the workstation. Follow all safety guidelines, including use of required personal protective equipment and adherence to safety controls. Maintain consistent attendance and reliability to support continuous production operations. Work 3rd shift hours and perform overtime as needed, including coming in early, staying late, and working some Saturdays. Support a clean and organized work area by following housekeeping and quality standards. Essential Skills At least 6 months of recent manufacturing experience, currently in a manufacturing job or within the last 30 days. Recent experience in a production worker, operator, assembler, or warehouse position within the last 6 months. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds safely and repeatedly. Capability to lift plastic and foam components, such as car hoods stacked approximately 5-6 high, and place them at the workstation. Proven visual inspection experience, including identifying defects such as scratches, paint marks, dents, or other flaws on parts. Ability to provide specific examples of prior roles where you identified defects on parts. Demonstrated job stability, with at least 8 months or longer tenure at each of the past three jobs. Willingness and ability to work 3rd shift hours (10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.). Flexibility to work overtime as needed, including starting up to 4 hours early, staying up to 4 hours after the shift, and working some Saturdays. Comfort working in a manufacturing environment that can be hot, especially in the summer. Additional Skills & Qualifications Mechanical aptitude or experience working with mechanical components. Machine operating experience in a manufacturing or production setting. Experience working as part of a small team on a production line, including collaboration with other operators. Familiarity with basic safety practices in a plastic manufacturing environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a plastic manufacturing facility, which can become hot during the summer months. You will work on 3rd shift from 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., with the expectation of mandatory overtime at times, including 12-hour shifts, early starts, late finishes, and some Saturday work for hourly employees. You will work alongside another operator (OP1) with an OP3 overseeing the machine, creating a team-based production environment. The role requires adherence to a practical dress code, including work pants, a work shirt, closed-toe shoes, and safety glasses. For safety reasons, long fingernails are not permitted. The facility emphasizes safe machine operation, consistent use of personal protective equipment, and compliance with safety controls while working around plastic and foam components. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Roseville, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.95 - $16.95/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
