Job Description

Job Title:
General Production Associate Job Description This role supports a high-volume, 24/7 plastic extrusion manufacturing facility by assisting production across multiple departments, including laminator, knitting, roll converter, and extruder lines. You will train on day shift and you can stay on the 1st shift which is 7:00am-7:00 pm or you can then transition to a 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. schedule on a 4-days-on, 4-days-off rotation, or train and remain on third shift depending on assignment. The position is physically active and hands-on, requiring close attention to quality, safe machine operation, and consistent teamwork to keep production running smoothly. Responsibilities Assist production on the laminator, knitting, roll converter, and extruder lines as assigned. Perform core extracting on multiple areas of each production line in a safe and efficient manner. Monitor the extrusion process and respond promptly to any issues to maintain consistent product quality. Pay close attention to quality issues, visually inspect product, and follow established inspection procedures. Wrap rolls of product and prepare finished materials for packaging or further processing. Mix chemicals according to established procedures and safety guidelines when required by the department. Use lift assist equipment and other tools to handle materials safely and efficiently. Lift up to 50 pounds frequently during the shift, including tasks that involve bending, twisting, pulling, and pushing. Pull and push an air bar into cores and ensure proper alignment and operation. Stand for long periods of time while operating or assisting with production machinery. Walk up and down stairs and work on catwalks in certain roles, remaining comfortable working at heights where required. Operate basic production and manufacturing equipment, including machine operation and general production tasks. Perform assembly, packaging, general labor, and machine operating duties as needed across departments. Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment at all times. Maintain accurate documentation related to production, quality checks, and any required reporting. Communicate effectively with managers and team members to report progress, explain data, and highlight action items that need to be addressed. Demonstrate a positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to perform all aspects of the job, including participation in plant tours and orientation activities. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED. Previous manufacturing experience in a production environment. Previous machine operation experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting. Ability to work scheduled hours on a 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. shift with a 4-days-on, 4-days-off rotation, including training on day or night shift as assigned. Ability to show up on time consistently and maintain reliable attendance. Capability to lift 50 pounds frequently throughout the shift. Comfort standing for long periods and performing repetitive physical tasks, including bending, twisting, pulling, and pushing. Ability to work safely on stairs and catwalks and remain comfortable working at heights where required. Strong problem-solving skills and basic analytical ability to understand and respond to production issues. Effective communication skills to interact with managers and team members and to report progress and action items. Good attitude, teamwork mindset, and willingness to learn and perform all required job duties. Ability to follow safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment, including steel toe or composite safety shoes. Additional Skills & Qualifications Two years of recent manufacturing experience with the same company is preferred. Experience in general production, assembly, packaging, and general labor in a manufacturing environment. Experience with inspection tasks and quality checks on production lines. Experience with machine operation and machine operating in a fast-paced production setting. Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and recordkeeping. Comfort working in a large, industrial plastic extrusion facility with multiple departments and varying shift times. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a very large plastic extrusion manufacturing facility that operates 24/7 with multiple departments and varying shift times. Most openings follow either the 7am-7pm or the 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. third shift schedule on a 4-days-on, 4-days-off rotation, with initial training on day shift or third shift depending on the specific position. The environment is industrial and fast-paced, with active production lines such as laminator, knitting, roll converter, and extruder operations. Employees stand for long periods, frequently lift up to 50 pounds, and perform tasks that involve bending, twisting, pulling, pushing, and working on stairs and catwalks, including at heights in some roles. The facility emphasizes safety, and employees must wear all required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, ear plugs, steel toe or composite safety shoes, and respirators in certain departments. Dress is typical for an industrial manufacturing setting, with clothing suitable for wearing under PPE and for performing physically demanding tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saginaw, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.50/hr.
