JOB SUMMARY
The Production Assistant - Machining is an entry-level, hands-on role supporting our machining operations by completing finishing and secondary operations on custom-machined plastic components. This position will perform tasks such as deburring, drilling, tapping, cutting, and removing excess material while inspecting finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with their hands and wants to build a career in manufacturing, with the opportunity to cross-train, learn additional machining operations, and take on greater responsibilities over time!
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Finish machined parts to specifications Understand and utilize all inspection equipment necessary to check products for quality Utilize job knowledge to continuously improve the quality and cost of finished machined products Maintain external quality expectations Follow production schedule to ensure on-time deliveries Perform secondary machining operations, such as deburring Provide input on work instructions, as required Inspect own work and work of others Crosstrain and assist with training others, as required Work overtime when required to support customer demand Properly label and dispose of used materials Clean and maintain work areas Adhere to and support all safety policies and guidelines Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent Exceptional work ethic, ?can-do? attitude and team player Ability to read and understand all work instructions, engineering drawings and SDSs Ability and willingness to learn, understand and support Apex's quality objectives Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and colleagues Ability to work independently with minimal instruction/supervision and effectively plan, organize and execute own activities Ability and willingness to wear personal protective equipment necessary for job duties performed Knowledge of hazards associated with job duties and how to activate emergency management system and operate emergency equipment Ability to lift and move 50 pounds of material unassisted Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work well under pressure and within changing environments Ability and willingness to work overtime hours, as needed Willing to cross-train as needed
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The anticipated pay range for this position is between $20 - $24/hr, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, and paid time off.
