Finisher - 3rd Shift Job Description This 3rd shift Finisher role focuses on preparing metal products to precise customer specifications by performing grinding, sanding, deburring, and basic assembly tasks. You will use a variety of hand and power tools to remove excess metal, smooth surfaces, and ensure each product meets quality standards. The position also supports machine operators during downtime, involves routine inspection and quality assurance, and includes general housekeeping duties in a production environment. Responsibilities Prepare products to meet detailed customer specifications by performing finishing operations on metal components. Use hand grinders and sanding tools to grind down excess metal, smooth surfaces, and remove imperfections. Perform metal finishing and deburring to ensure clean, accurate, and safe edges on all parts. Assemble products and components as needed, following work instructions and basic mechanical assembly practices. Assist machine operators during downtime by helping with setups, material handling, and basic machine support tasks. Use various hand and power tools, including grinders, sanders, hammers, and other finishing tools, in a safe and efficient manner. Inspect finished products visually and with basic measuring tools to perform quality checks and ensure they meet specifications. Perform general cleaning and housekeeping duties in the work area to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient production environment. Lift and move materials and products weighing up to 55 pounds as part of daily production activities. Follow production, manufacturing, and finishing procedures to meet productivity and quality goals. Read and interpret basic blueprints or work instructions as needed to understand finishing and assembly requirements. Collaborate with team members across production, finishing, and assembly areas to ensure smooth workflow and timely order completion. Essential Skills Prior experience using grinders, hand tools, and power tools in a production, manufacturing, construction, or similar environment. Comfort using a hammer to straighten parts and perform basic metal forming or adjustment tasks. Ability to lift up to 55 pounds regularly and perform physically demanding work for the duration of the shift. Basic understanding of general production, manufacturing, or finishing processes, including grinding, sanding, and deburring. Ability to perform visual inspection and basic quality assurance checks to ensure products meet customer specifications. Capability to follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment, including metatarsal boots and safety glasses. Willingness to work 3rd shift and adapt to overtime as needed. Reliability, strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented production environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Approximately 3 months of prior production or manufacturing experience is preferred, but not required. Experience with metal finishing, grinding, sanding, polishing, or concrete finishing is beneficial. Exposure to machine operation, mechanical assembly, or kitting in a manufacturing setting is a plus. Ability to read and understand basic blueprints or fabrication drawings is advantageous. Familiarity with inspection practices and quality checks in a production environment is helpful. Comfort working around fabric, mechanical components, and various materials used in manufacturing. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Le Sueur, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
