Job description:
RMF Companies is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Shipping & Assembly Technician to join our manufacturing team. This hands-on position combines mechanical assembly, packaging, palletizing, shipping and receiving, warehouse operations, and material handling responsibilities. The role plays a critical part in preparing custom food processing equipment for shipment by performing mechanical assembly, coordinating freight shipments, packaging equipment, and ensuring products are safely palletized and loaded for delivery. The ideal candidate has experience in a manufacturing environment and is comfortable using hand and power tools. Experience with forklifts, shipping and receiving procedures, packaging, palletizing, inventory handling, and freight preparation is highly desirable. Previous experience in packaging, palletizing, shipping, or manufacturing operations. Mechanical assembly experience. Experience reading tape measures and using basic measuring tools. Ability to safely operate hand tools and power tools. Knowledge of shipping procedures, freight preparation, and packaging methods. Forklift experience. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Excellent work ethic and reliability. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to frequently bend, kneel, reach, and lift. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to move larger materials with assistance or material handling equipment. Ability to safely work in a manufacturing environment while wearing required PPE.
Responsibilities:
Mechanical Assembly Assemble mechanical components and equipment according to engineering drawings and work instructions. Install hardware, brackets, guards, and other machine components. Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Verify completed assemblies meet quality standards and specifications. Packaging & Palletizing Prepare completed equipment, parts, and assemblies for shipment. Build custom crates, skids, and pallets as required. Properly package equipment to prevent damage during transportation. Secure products using banding, stretch wrap, blocking, and other packaging materials. Operate pallet jacks and material handling equipment safely . Shipping & Logistics Prepare outgoing shipments and coordinate with freight carriers. Verify shipping paperwork, packing lists, and bills of lading. Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently, using overhead cranes and forklifts. Organize finished goods and shipping areas to maintain workflow and inventory accuracy. Assist with receiving incoming materials and inspecting deliveries. General Manufacturing Support Maintain a clean and organized work area. Follow all safety procedures and company policies. Assist other departments as needed to support production goals.
