Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Chip/Hand Grinder to join our manufacturing team on the 2nd shift. In this role, you will be responsible for precision grinding and finishing of metal components to meet strict quality standards. Your expertise in manual grinding techniques, combined with knowledge of machining tools and measurement instruments, will ensure our products meet the highest specifications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic factory environment where safety, quality, and efficiency are paramount. Duties Operate hand grinders and chip grinding equipment to refine metal parts according to detailed blueprints and specifications Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other gauges to verify dimensions and ensure compliance with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards Set up and adjust grinding tools, including CNC grinders if applicable, to achieve desired surface finishes and tolerances Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD (Computer-Aided Design) files for accurate machining processes Perform routine inspections of finished parts, ensuring they meet quality control standards before packaging or assembly Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and properly handling materials using forklifts or other materials handling equipment when necessary Collaborate with team members on fabrication, assembly line tasks, or tooling adjustments to optimize production flow Skills Strong knowledge of machining processes including CNC programming, CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) programming, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and stamping presses Experience with Fanuc controls and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for automated machinery operation Proficiency in blueprint reading, GD&T principles, and mechanical drawings for precise fabrication work Familiarity with fabrication tools such as press brake machines, welding equipment, hand tools, and tooling setups Ability to operate forklifts safely within a manufacturing facility or warehouse environment Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials handling, and quality control procedures Skilled in using precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other quality inspection tools Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and process adjustments Prior factory experience in machining or manufacturing environments is highly preferred Knowledge of SolidWorks or CAD software is a plus for interpreting technical drawings Join our team as a Chip/Hand Grinder on the 2nd shift to contribute your craftsmanship in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
