Job Title:
General Production Worker Job Description The General Production Worker sets up, operates, and monitors folding and related production equipment to ensure printed materials are processed accurately and efficiently. This role focuses on preparing jobs according to specifications, maintaining consistent quality, and following all standard operating procedures and safety guidelines within a climate-controlled production environment. Responsibilities Determine the required type of fold for each job based on current production specifications. Determine and print all paperwork needed for each job type, ensuring documentation is complete and accurate. Follow all established procedures and standard operating processes for each production run. Select appropriate folding sections to be used for each job. Insert correct folding gates and blanks to achieve the required fold. Source and stage printed materials for folding according to job requirements. Set up the feeder to properly fit and feed sheets into the folding equipment. Adjust and set rollers to ensure smooth and accurate material movement. Set fold gates to maintain correct fold quality, alignment, and size. Install and adjust slitters or scorers when needed to complete the fold according to specifications. Obtain quality assurance sign-off for each job before and during production as required. Constantly monitor the quality, size, and consistency of finished leaflets during the job run. Box folded products for further application or shipping, depending on the next stage of the process. Comply with all departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), employee handbook policies, attendance expectations, and safety rules and standards. Work overtime as needed to complete tasks and meet production schedules. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support production operations. Essential Skills Ability to count and measure accurately to meet production and quality requirements. Strong attention to detail to ensure folds, sizes, and finished products meet specifications. Ability to work independently as a self-starter, managing tasks with minimal supervision. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with others in a production environment. Ability to follow written, oral, and verbal directions from supervisors and team members. Ability to respond to questions from supervisors, team members, and customers in a clear and professional manner. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures related to printing and production processes. Ability to use a computer to navigate through and understand job specifications and related documentation. Comfort working with production equipment, including machine operation, packing, packaging, inspection, and use of hand tools. Additional Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of printing production processes is a plus. Experience with gluing systems and glue detection systems is a plus. Experience setting up sensors, scanners, and vision systems is a plus. Packaging experience in the pharmaceutical or food packaging industry is a plus. General production, packaging, packing, inspection, machine operation, or similar roles is beneficial. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work takes place in a humidified, climate-controlled warehouse environment maintained in accordance with government regulations. While performing duties, employees are regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and print chemicals typical of a printing production setting, and are frequently around moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is moderate, and employees work with various production machines, folding equipment, and related tools under established safety standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Charles, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.25/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
