Job Description
Your Job Georgia-Pacific is now hiring for a Production Utility Associate for our Taylorsville, MS Plywood facility! We manufacture pine plywood panels and siding that are ideal for residential and light commercial construction like subflooring, wall and roof sheathing, and concrete formwork. Plywood is a strong, versatile product made by gluing together thin layers (veneers) of wood with the grain of each layer running in opposite directions. This cross-graining makes it stable, durable, and resistant to warping.
Salary:
- $21.28 per hour
- $1.50 shift differential for night shift
- You will have the ability to increase your compensation based on skills and contribution to the overall performance of the plant.
- This role is eligible for variable pay
Shift:
- Only candidates who are flexible to be assigned to work any shift will be considered.
- Candidates must be flexible and available to work first, second, or third shift as needed. This will include overtime, holidays, and weekends.
- Currently hiring for all shifts
- Orientation will be on the day shift and you will be assigned your permanent shift after your orientation. What You Will Do
- Pull and lift plywood, panels, or scraps that could be up to 25 pounds.
- Assemble veneer cores by layering sheets according to specified patterns and project requirements.
- Assist in clean up, operation, and maintenance of production equipment; including but not limited to: machine operation, and forklift operation
- Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures while proactively seeking out potential safety hazards, including wearing safety equipment
- Read and comprehend written instructions as required to complete assigned tasks
- Work cooperatively and productively with supervisors, co-workers, and other associates to complete tasks, meet safety, production, and quality goals
- Cross train on various machines to increase operational knowledge
- Ability to work any hours, to include a variety of shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- At least one (1) or more years of experience in a manufacturing, military, industrial, farming, agriculture, landscaping, carpentry, mechanical, or construction environment What Will Put You Ahead
- At least two (2) or more years of experience in a manufacturing, military, industrial, farming, agriculture, landscaping, carpentry, mechanical, or construction environment
Physical Requirements:
- Walk on elevated catwalks over 15 feet high to perform daily duties
- Work in a non-climate-controlled mill, with dust, noise and temperatures that can be higher in the summer and lower in the wi.
