Printing Services Technician Working Title Print & Graphic Production Specialist Competency Level Journey Home Department Printing Services - 35315 Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The primary purpose of Printing Services is to provide quality printing (process, multi-color, single color, static and variable data), consultation/project management of printing orders, copying, digital pre-press service, and other related services to the university. These services are performed in combinations of the print shop, copy center, and centralized copier management operation. Location of Workplace Main UNCW Campus Brief Summary of Work for this Position The purpose of this position is to prepare, correct, and/or troubleshoot graphic design files from various design sources for effective print production. This position will provide the preparation of all files for digital output of single to four-color printing (static printing and variable data printing). Designs, lay out, and prepares drawings to illustrate brochures, pamphlets, and instructional books; arranges content in the most effective manner for presentation. Designs and builds displays and exhibits using wide format techniques. Performs or assists others in the print production processes involved in the reproduction of graphic materials. Performs related work as required. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Preferred education, professional skills and experience Experience in dealing with variable data printing with a focus on production for digital and offset printing operations. Experience in photo scanning and retouching. Wide-format printing and application. Macintosh and PC computers, multiple software applications including Adobe InDesign, Creative Suites, PageMaker, Quark XPress, Illustrator, PhotoShop, Yours Truly, Darwin, PDF software, MS Word, PowerPoint, MS Publisher, and others. Required Certifications or licensure A valid NC Driver's license is required.
