Experience in Construction/Manufacturing or Production (Preferred) Job Description The Machine Operator supports production in the coatings division and coating/blending department by operating machinery, labeling and sleeving pails and buckets, and assisting with mixing and pouring asphalt-based coatings. This role involves repetitive manual labor, including lifting and palletizing filled buckets, while maintaining a clean and safe work area in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Job Description This role supports multiple production areas within a manufacturing facility, including the Coatings Division, Coating/Blending Department, and Cants Division. You operate machinery to label and sleeve pails, assist with mixing and blending coatings, handle asphalt pouring and palletizing, and cut fiberboard to precise specifications. The position involves repetitive manual labor, consistent lifting, and close attention to quality and safety standards. Responsibilities Operate machinery in the Coatings Division to apply sleeves to pails by machine and ensure they are properly positioned and secured. Run labels through a glue machine and apply them accurately to pails and buckets, ensuring proper placement and adhesion. Move stacked pails and buckets by rolling them into designated rows and storage areas in an organized and safe manner. Assist in mixing and blending coatings by following established procedures and instructions to maintain product quality. Operate equipment in the Coating/Blending Department to pour asphalt into buckets by opening and closing valves with care and precision. Remove filled buckets manually from the production line and palletize them in an orderly and stable configuration. Perform repetitive lifting and palletizing of buckets, consistently handling weights of approximately 25-50 lbs. Maintain a clean and organized workspace by performing general housekeeping tasks and following facility cleanliness standards. Work in the Cants Division to manufacture fiberboard used for roofing materials according to production requirements. Operate a bandsaw and chop saw to cut fiberboard to specified lengths and thicknesses, ensuring safe and efficient machine use. Measure boards accurately using appropriate tools to confirm they meet customer specifications for length and thickness. Stack boards according to specified guidelines to maintain order, protect product quality, and support efficient workflow. Perform general production and manual labor tasks as needed to support overall manufacturing operations. Essential Skills At least 1 year of manufacturing or construction experience. Ability to operate production machinery such as bandsaws, chop saws, and labeling equipment, or willingness to learn. Capability to lift and handle 25-50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift. Basic measurement skills to verify lengths and thicknesses against specifications. Attention to detail when applying labels, sleeves, and cutting materials to ensure quality standards. Ability to work safely in a hot, dusty manufacturing environment. Strong work ethic and reliability in performing repetitive manual labor tasks. Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work area. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience in coatings, blending, or asphalt-related production environments. Experience operating saws and cutting equipment in a manufacturing or construction setting. Comfort working with adhesives, coatings, and asphalt products. Familiarity with palletizing and material handling in a production environment. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and standard operating procedures. Willingness to cross-train across multiple departments, including Coatings, Coating/Blending, and Cants Divisions. Why Work Here? The position involves regular manual labor, standing for extended periods, and repetitive lifting, with a strong focus on safety and housekeeping to keep the workspace clean and organized. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Berlin, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
