Full Job Description Job Title:
Cast House Helper Job Description The Cast House Helper supports safe and efficient operations in the cast house by handling aluminum product after extrusion, tending production lines, and performing general labor tasks. This role works closely with the Cast House Supervisor and production team to rack, pack, and move materials, including operating forklifts and using hand tools, while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality in a demanding manufacturing environment. Train on 1st. shift for couple weeks to a month from 6am -2pm Monday to Friday (Sometimes Saturday if needed.) Then will transistion to 3rd. shift from 10pm to 6am. Responsibilities Handle aluminum products safely and efficiently after extrusion, following all safety and quality procedures. Tend production lines in the cast house, ensuring smooth, continuous operation and addressing basic issues as they arise. Rack and pack finished products according to specifications and production requirements. Move bins and materials throughout the facility using a forklift and other material-handling equipment as trained and authorized. Use a tape measure and hand tools accurately to verify product dimensions and support production and packing tasks. Perform general labor duties, including lifting, carrying, and positioning materials in a physically demanding environment. Follow instructions from the Cast House Supervisor and work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals. Maintain a clean and organized work area, supporting housekeeping and 5S practices in the cast house and surrounding areas. Adhere to all safety policies, including the proper use of personal protective equipment, and promptly report any unsafe conditions. Participate in training to learn additional tasks such as crane and saw operations as skills and performance develop. Support overtime and extended shifts as needed to meet production demands and 24/7 coverage goals. Essential Skills Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Prior laborer experience and the ability to perform heavy physical work comfortably. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately. Capability to perform general labor tasks such as lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods in a hot, noisy environment. Willingness to work rotating or night shifts and frequent overtime as needed. Consistent attendance and reliability, with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in industrial environments similar to building materials or heavy manufacturing facilities. Comfort working around furnaces, molten metal, and high-temperature equipment. Openness to cross-training into higher-level roles such as crane or saw operator. Desire for long-term growth into higher-level operator positions within the cast house. Ability to follow detailed safety procedures and adapt to changing production priorities. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a cast house within a busy manufacturing plant. New hires typically train on a Monday-Friday day shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (with occasional Saturdays during busy periods), then transition after a few weeks to a 4x4 schedule, most likely on night shift from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Overtime is frequently available, and team members can pick up additional shifts to increase their hours. Work takes place both indoors and on the plant floor in an unregulated environment with extreme temperatures and high noise levels. The cast house is very hot due to furnaces used to melt and mold metal, and temperatures in the summer can reach around 110 degrees, so comfort working in heat is essential. The environment includes typical industrial factors such as machinery noise and other uncontrollable conditions. The dress code requires steel-toe boots and long pants, and employees must wear a hard hat, safety glasses, and ear protection when in the plant. Uniforms or protective clothing are worn to enhance safety while working near furnaces and molten metal. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pennsauken, NJ.
