ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a Production Specialist to represent Project Management and serve as the critical link between Design and Fabrication. You'll take designs from the drawing board and turn them into a clear, buildable plan for the shop—reading and interpreting drawings, scoping material and hardware needs, coordinating procurement, and working directly with the fabrication team to ensure what gets built matches what was designed. You'll split your time between the office and the shop floor, and you're expected to get your hands dirty when the work calls for it.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Serve as the Project Management team's liaison between the design team and the fabrication team, translating drawings and design intent into a clear plan the shop can execute Open, read, and interpret fabrication drawings, mechanical drawings, and CAD models to understand design intent, tolerances, and assembly requirements Perform material takeoffs and scope hardware, components, and consumables needed for each project Help source and procure materials, hardware, and outside services, tracking lead times against project schedules Prepare models and files for CNC machining, working from design files to production-ready output Coordinate fabrication sequencing and flag constructability issues back to the project management and design team before they become problems on the floor Serve as final authority for QA/QC — inspecting fabricated parts and assemblies against drawings and design intent, and holding or releasing work for shipment accordingly Be willing to work hands-on in the shop as needed, helping with assembly — to support builds and stay close to the work Maintain clear, consistent communication with your project management team and across design, shop, and — when needed — the client
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
5+ years of experience working with mechanical assemblies, with an understanding of machine design and fabrication Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment (brake, mill, lathe, laser cutter, CNC) and how parts are actually built and assembled Strong Autodesk Fusion skills (or equivalent) and ability to prepare models and files for CNC machining (comparable CAD/CAM experience considered; Inventor familiarity a plus — we will train, as needed) Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and CAD assemblies Understanding of custom machinery, mechanisms, and rigging/hoist systems Experience with procurement — sourcing materials and hardware, managing vendors, tracking lead times Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at once Sound, decisive judgment — comfortable holding parts or halting work when quality doesn't meet the standard, even under schedule pressure Strong communication skills — comfortable working directly with designers, shop staff, and clients Comfortable with a prototyping and first-of-kind environment and able to adapt to change as project scopes evolve Nice to have: Bachelor's degree, especially in Engineering or Technical Theater Background in themed entertainment, rigging, or custom fabrication
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Comfortable moving between office-based planning work and hands-on shop work Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and work on your feet in a shop environment for extended periods Willing to drive a forklift, if needed (will train if not certified)
