Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Production Specialist to join a high-performing paper mill operation. This position plays a key role in ensuring the safety, environmental stewardship, productivity, and reliability of mill operations. The Production Specialist will oversee production activities across three paper machines , as well as logistics, utilities, maintenance coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced paper industry professional looking to progress their career in operations management . Key Responsibilities Promote and uphold a strong culture of safety, training, accountability, and operational excellence . Conduct periodic inspections of equipment and facilities and initiate work orders when deficiencies are identified. Act as a spare shift team coordinator during vacations, training, and other absences. Coordinate mill production activities and make informed decisions to meet production, safety, quality, and operational goals. Work closely with Business Unit Leaders, specialists, technicians, and production teams to optimize mill productivity and equipment uptime . Coordinate shift maintenance activities and shutdowns. Assist with machine outages, including leading crews and coordinating jobs. Monitor team performance and reinforce adherence to established quality, safety, and operational standards. Participate in team meetings and follow up on action items to ensure successful execution. Participate in the Safety Leadership Team . Support technician training, including progress monitoring and training timelines. Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement . Complete at least one Six Sigma project annually . Coach, mentor, and support team members to strengthen operational performance and accountability. Support logistics activities, including inbound and outbound materials . Support operations involving utilities, including water recycling and boiler systems . What You Bring Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Paper Science, Mechanical Engineering , or a related discipline is preferred. Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience within the paper industry . Previous experience working within a papermaking or paper mill environment is highly preferred. Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and environmental responsibility . Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills. Ability to establish goals, monitor progress, and hold teams accountable. Strong organizational and time-management skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced production environment. Strong interest in developing a career in operations management . Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with production crews, technicians, leadership, and cross-functional teams. A positive, collaborative approach with a strong desire to teach, coach, mentor, and develop employees . Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, goal-oriented manufacturing environment. Pay:
$100.00 - $120,000.00 per year
