We are looking for an experienced Submerged Arc Welder Operator to join a heavy industrial fabrication operation. This position works with a large weld tower designed for welding oversized steel components , utilizing both Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) and
MIG/GMAW
processes. Position Overview In this role, you will operate and monitor a large weld tower while welding heavy steel components. The equipment utilizes SAW on one side of the tower and MIG on the opposite side , giving the operator responsibility for maintaining proper setup, alignment, welding parameters, and overall weld quality. Primary Duties Operate large automated or semi-automated welding equipment used in heavy fabrication. Perform Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) on large steel components. Perform
MIG/GMAW
welding when required by the job. Set up welding equipment and adjust voltage, amperage, wire feed speed, travel speed, and other operating parameters. Monitor the welding process and make adjustments as needed to maintain consistent weld quality. Position, align, and secure large steel components before beginning welding operations. Monitor weld penetration, profile, appearance, and overall quality. Follow welding procedures, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and production requirements. Perform basic equipment inspections and report issues when necessary. Maintain an organized work area and follow all plant safety procedures. Safely work around overhead cranes, heavy material, and other industrial equipment. Required Experience Previous hands-on experience operating Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) equipment . Experience with
MIG/GMAW
welding strongly preferred. Background welding heavy structural steel, plate, or large industrial components. Familiarity with automated or semi-automated welding systems. Ability to read and understand blueprints and welding symbols. Ability to properly set and adjust welding parameters. Good understanding of welding quality standards and safe operating practices. Comfortable working around large steel components and heavy industrial equipment. Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with industrial fabrication. Compensation & Schedule $28-$32/hour , depending on experience Full-time position Overtime opportunities Long-term employment opportunity Work in a heavy industrial fabrication environment
Pay:
$28.00 - $32.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
