Job Description
Job Summary Vloom Logistics is seeking a hands-on Bilingual Safety Specialist to support safety operations in a manufacturing and warehouse environment where forklift operators, production employees, and general warehouse workers operate in shared areas. The Safety Specialist will monitor the facility floor, identify potential hazards, provide safety coaching, conduct employee and forklift operator training, investigate incidents, and help ensure compliance with company policies and applicable safety requirements. This position requires professional communication in both English and Spanish. Key Responsibilities Conduct regular safety walkthroughs and identify unsafe conditions or behaviors. Monitor PPE compliance, forklift activity, pedestrian safety, housekeeping, and material-handling practices. Provide immediate safety coaching and report serious or repeated violations to management. Conduct new-hire safety orientation, toolbox talks, and refresher training in English and Spanish. Train and evaluate new forklift operator candidates through formal instruction, hands-on exercises, and workplace performance testing. Assess candidates' ability to inspect, control, maneuver, load, park, and safely operate the applicable forklift equipment. Determine whether forklift candidates have demonstrated the required operating competence and complete employer certification documentation for qualified operators. Respond to workplace incidents, injuries, property damage, and near misses. Assist with incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions. Maintain accurate inspection, training, operator evaluation, incident, and corrective-action records. Work with employees and supervisors to promote a consistent safety-first culture. Required Qualifications Professional working proficiency in both English and Spanish. Experience in workplace safety oversight or supervision. Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, logistics, or industrial environment. Forklift Train-the-Trainer experience, including training operators and evaluating their ability to safely operate powered industrial trucks. Experience conducting formal forklift instruction, hands-on practical training, and workplace performance evaluations. Ability to test new forklift operator candidates, determine their operating competence, and complete required employer certification documentation. Knowledge of common workplace hazards, PPE requirements, forklift safety, pedestrian safety, and emergency procedures. Strong communication, observation, documentation, and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently and professionally enforce safety requirements. Basic computer skills, including email and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace. Preferred Qualifications Three or more years of safety oversight or supervision experience. Two or more years of warehouse or manufacturing experience. Previous responsibility for a company forklift operator training and certification program. Experience operating and evaluating candidates on multiple types of forklifts or powered industrial trucks. Experience conducting incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and safety training. First Aid, CPR, or AED certification. Physical and Work Environment Ability to stand and walk throughout the facility for extended periods. Ability to work around forklifts, moving equipment, industrial noise, and varying temperatures. Ability to demonstrate or closely observe forklift operation in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Position Expectations This is an active, floor-based safety position requiring frequent interaction with employees, forklift operator candidates, and supervisors. The successful candidate must be comfortable correcting unsafe behavior, evaluating forklift operating skills, documenting safety concerns, and consistently enforcing workplace safety requirements.
