Job Title:
General Production Worker Job Description The General Production Worker (Production Operator) sets up and operates machinery to epoxy coat and fabricate rebar according to work orders and shop drawings. This role plays a key part in maintaining product quality, meeting fabrication schedules, and ensuring timely delivery to customers in a construction-based manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Set up and operate machinery to epoxy coat and fabricate rebar in accordance with work orders and shop drawings. Review fabrication schedules and work orders to plan daily tasks and production priorities. Set machine controls to achieve the required bends, cuts, and angles specified in shop drawings. Activate and control machinery using hand controls in a safe and efficient manner. Inspect rebar and finished bars for quality, making touch-up repairs with paint on bar ends as needed. Complete all required paperwork, including tagging or labeling each order and maintaining accurate daily production records. Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. Follow all company safety procedures and consistently wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Assemble cardboard shipping boxes on pallets to prepare products for shipment. Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment to retrieve, move, and remove steel. Package and band boxes of fabricated steel to meet shipping and customer requirements. Handle materials and products such as rebar and paint in a safe and organized manner. Maintain a clean and orderly work area to support efficient production and safety. Work collaboratively with team members and support cross-training across production positions. Essential Skills Ability to stand and walk continuously throughout the shift. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance. Ability to climb, bend, twist, reach, and crouch frequently in a manufacturing environment. Strong eye, hand, and foot coordination to operate machinery and equipment safely and productively. Experience with general production, general labor, or construction-related work. Ability to operate machinery for cutting, bending, and fabricating materials. Basic proficiency in using hand tools for production and fabrication tasks. Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes or willingness to be trained. Capability to perform packaging tasks, including assembling boxes and banding fabricated steel. Ability to use a tape measure accurately to verify dimensions and ensure product specifications. Commitment to following safety procedures and wearing required PPE at all times. Attention to detail when inspecting products and completing production records and labels. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a construction-based or manufacturing environment. Comfort working with materials such as rebar and industrial coatings or paint. Willingness to learn and be trained across multiple production positions. Ability to complete documentation accurately, including work orders, tags, labels, and daily production records. Strong work ethic and reliability in meeting production schedules and deadlines. Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers. Work Environment This role is based in a non-climate-controlled, construction-focused manufacturing facility where production activities center on rebar fabrication and epoxy coating. The work involves operating machinery, overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment, as well as handling rebar and paint. The position is on a first shift schedule in an industrial setting that requires continuous standing, walking, and frequent physical movements such as bending, reaching, and crouching. Personal protective equipment is required, including steel toe safety shoes, with earplugs, safety glasses, gloves, and hard hats provided. The environment is active and fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on safety procedures and proper use of equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Marion, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
