Production Associate / Machine and Laser Operator Job Description This role supports a metal fabrication manufacturing operation by performing general production, machine operation, laser operation, and assembly tasks. You will work with sheet metal, follow blueprints, and use a variety of hand and power tools to produce high-quality parts in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Responsibilities Operate laser cutting equipment and metal fabrication machinery safely and efficiently. Perform general production tasks, including material handling, part preparation, and basic finishing work. Read and interpret blueprints to complete accurate cuts, measurements, and assemblies. Use hand tools, power tools, mics, and calipers to measure, inspect, and adjust parts to specification. Assemble sheet metal components and products according to work instructions and quality standards. Monitor machines during operation, make basic adjustments, and report any issues or malfunctions. Inspect finished parts for quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures and shop guidelines. Collaborate with team members and trainers to learn new skills and cross-train on different machines and processes. Essential Skills Experience with general production or manufacturing work. Ability to operate or learn to operate laser cutting machines and other fabrication equipment. Basic machine operation skills, including starting, stopping, and monitoring equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints for production and assembly tasks. Proficiency using hand tools and power tools in a safe and controlled manner. Ability to use measuring tools such as mics and calipers to verify part dimensions. Comfort working with sheet metal and metal fabrication processes. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and standard operating procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in metal fabrication or sheet metal assembly is a plus. Prior laser operator or machine operator experience is highly beneficial. Familiarity with basic mechanical concepts and troubleshooting of production equipment. Willingness to learn new skills and cross-train on multiple machines and processes. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment. Strong teamwork, communication, and reliability. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a metal fabrication manufacturing facility with a fairly clean production floor. The environment is not climate controlled, so temperatures may vary with the seasons. You will work around sheet metal, fabrication machinery, and laser equipment, regularly using hand tools, power tools, mics, and calipers. Standard production shifts are available on 1st shift (6:50 a.m.
- 3:00 p.m.), 2nd shift (2:50 p.m.
- 11:00 p.m.), and 3rd shift (10:50 p.m.
- 7:00 a.m.), supporting a continuous manufacturing operation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plain City, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00
