Job Description
Production Associate / Laser and Machine Operator Job Description This role focuses on general production, laser operation, machine operation, and assembly within a metal fabrication manufacturing environment. You will use hand and power tools to work with sheet metal, follow blueprints, and support the efficient and safe operation of laser and other production machinery. Responsibilities Operate laser cutting machines and other production machinery according to established procedures and safety guidelines. Perform general production tasks including loading, unloading, and handling sheet metal and other materials. Read and interpret blueprints to complete assembly and fabrication tasks accurately. Use hand tools and power tools to assemble, adjust, and finish metal components. Inspect parts using measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions and quality. Assist with basic machine setup, adjustments, and routine checks to maintain smooth operation. Follow work instructions and production schedules to meet daily output and quality targets. Maintain a clean and organized work area, supporting a safe and efficient manufacturing environment. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to learn new skills and improve production processes. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures while working with machinery, tools, and sheet metal. Essential Skills Experience working in general production or manufacturing environments. Ability to operate or learn to operate laser cutting machines and other production machinery. Ability to read and understand blueprints for assembly and fabrication work. Proficiency using hand tools for assembly and metalworking tasks. Proficiency using power tools in a manufacturing or fabrication setting. Basic knowledge of sheet metal handling and fabrication processes. Ability to use measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers for quality checks. Comfort working with machine operation tasks, including monitoring performance and following safety procedures. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience as a laser operator or machine operator in a metal fabrication environment is a plus. Experience with assembly work involving sheet metal components. Familiarity with using hand tools and power tools for extended periods. Willingness to learn new production and machining skills through on-the-job training. Ability to work effectively across different shifts as needed. Reliability and strong sense of responsibility in meeting production goals. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a metal fabrication manufacturing facility that is fairly clean but not climate controlled. You will work around sheet metal, laser cutting equipment, and various production machinery, using hand and power tools on a regular basis. The operation runs on multiple shifts: 1st shift from 6:50 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 2nd shift from 2:50 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and 3rd shift from 10:50 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., offering structured hours within a busy, production-focused environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plain City, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
