General Production Worker

General Production Worker Job Description The General Production Worker supports a busy steel manufacturing operation by performing a variety of general labor tasks related to the production of counterweights and steel products. This role focuses on safely operating around machinery, unloading finished product, preparing materials for shipment, and assisting with material handling throughout the facility while consistently following all safety policies and procedures. Responsibilities Assist with general labor tasks involved in manufacturing counterweights and steel products. Unload product from machines safely and efficiently at the end of the production process. Prepare finished products for shipment, including staging, organizing, and basic packaging as needed. Assist with material handling, including moving raw materials and finished goods within the facility. Use basic measurement tools to verify product dimensions and ensure accuracy when required. Support machine operation by working alongside machine operators, including loading and unloading materials. Follow all applicable safety policies, procedures, and guidelines at all times. Maintain a clean and organized work area in a heavy steel manufacturing environment. Work overtime as needed, including at least 5 hours per week when required to meet production demands. Lift and move materials weighing 50 pounds or more repeatedly throughout the shift. Essential Skills Ability to perform general labor tasks in a manufacturing environment. Ability to safely lift and carry 50 pounds or more throughout the shift. Willingness to work overtime, including at least 5 hours per week when required. Basic familiarity with machine operation in an industrial or manufacturing setting. Comfort working around heavy steel products and large industrial equipment. Ability to use basic measurement tools to check product dimensions. Reliability and strong attendance to support steady, full-time production work. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to safety procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior manufacturing experience preferred but not required. Experience in construction, assembly, or similar hands-on roles is beneficial. Previous exposure to heavy industrial or steel fabrication environments is an advantage. Comfort working with both new and older equipment and tools. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new tasks and processes. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Youngstown, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.
