General Shop Assistant

Job Description:

Werco Manufacturing, a HUBZone-certified, AS9100/ISO-9001-certified small business with over 39 years of industry experience, is seeking a reliable and motivated General Shop Assistant to support our production operations. We specialize in fabricating precision components and complex structures for critical sectors, including Aerospace & Defense, Oil & Gas, and Industrial manufacturing. Key Responsibilities Assist with daily shop operations, including material handling, inventory organization, and workspace cleanliness. Load and unload materials, parts, and finished goods using carts, forklifts, or by hand as required. Support machine operators and welders by preparing materials, staging work areas, and moving in-process parts. Perform basic assembly tasks, part labeling, and packaging of finished products for shipping. Conduct general facility maintenance tasks such as sweeping, emptying scrap bins, and organizing tools and equipment. Follow instructions from supervisors to ensure workflow remains uninterrupted and efficient. Assist in receiving and storing incoming materials, ensuring proper documentation and identification. Maintain compliance with all safety guidelines, PPE usage, and company procedures. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred, but not required. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical work in a shop setting, including standing, walking, and bending for extended periods. Familiarity with hand tools, forklifts, and general shop equipment is a plus. Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast-paced environment. Strong work ethic, punctuality, and attention to detail. Team-oriented mindset with a safety-first attitude.
