Job Description:
The Sr. General Helper III supports daily operations at the Broken Arrow facility by managing fixturing systems, lift tools, and critical inspection/certification cycles to ensure compliance and readiness. This role maintains fixture/part holding inventory, coordinates crane safety documentation, and drives efficient point-of-use material flow while actively contributing to 5S initiatives. Additionally, the position assists production activities, including material movement, equipment operation and tool crib assistance, to support overall manufacturing performance. Why This Role Matters This position is essential to maintaining safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing operations at the expanding Solar Broken Arrow facility. By ensuring the readiness and reliability of critical tools and supporting production processes, the Sr. General Helper III directly contributes to operational excellence and workplace safety. Lift Tools & Fixturing Management Maintain and manage fixturing systems, lift tools, and associated equipment. Oversee the Fixture Directory process, ensuring accurate documentation and organization. Manage lift magnets, braided slings, and engineered lift tools, ensuring proper tracking and storage. Coordinate packaging and shipment of lift tools for inspection and certification. Retag and redistribute tools upon return from certification. Develop, document and maintain a proactive cycle plan to ensure adequate tool availability during recertification periods. Inspection & Inventory Control Conduct regular inspections of lift slings and related equipment. Remove and replace worn or non-compliant tools in a timely manner. Maintain appropriate inventory levels within the tool crib and shop floor. Support continuous readiness for safe lifting operations. Operational & Administrative Support Manage the collection, tracking, and communication of crane check sheets with supervisors. Ensure timely distribution and documentation compliance across departments. Coordinate point-of-use (POU) material distribution to support efficient workflow and minimize production delays. Continuous Improvement & Workplace Organization Actively participate in and support 5S initiatives to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment. Identify opportunities for process improvements related to tool management, inventory control, and material flow. Production Support Assist with shop production activities as needed, including but not limited to: Operation of cold saw equipment Material handling and movement throughout the facility Provide general shop support to ensure production targets and schedules are met. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training a plus. Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or shop environment preferred. Knowledge of rigging, lifting equipment, and certification processes is highly desirable. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to maintain accurate records and manage multiple priorities. Familiarity with safety standards and practices in a manufacturing environment. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Ability to operate basic shop equipment and material handling tools. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Regularly required to stand, walk, lift, and move materials throughout the facility. Ability to lift and handle heavy equipment in accordance with safety guidelines. Exposure to a manufacturing/shop environment, including noise, machinery, and varying temperatures. Must follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Summary Pay Range:
$21.38 - $32.08 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
