Summary Description:

Pour up to 2650 degree molten iron into green sand molds while maintaining the proper flow rate to ensure casting quality.

Essential Functions:

Manually pour molten iron from a ladle into green sand molds. Inform Hot Metal truck operator of the amount of iron needed for each job being poured. Removal of slag from iron before pouring. Use an electric hoist to lift and position ladle for pouring. Ensure iron quality by taking temperatures, pouring ladle empty in the required time frame, and maintaining the correct pour rate. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition that is acceptable to housekeeping and safety standards. Must inform management and Mold operator of any unfavorable pouring conditions. These conditions will be learned on the job. Will perform patching, repairs, and cleaning of hot ladles during the production shift. Perform any and all other job related tasks as assigned by management.

Skills or Experience Required:

Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. Basic math skills required. Keep accurate reporting with written data. No previous experience required.
