General Production Worker Job Description This role focuses on washing, sanitizing, and preparing totes and containers used in a manufacturing environment, while also supporting tanker offloading operations and general production activities. You will operate cleaning equipment, handle materials safely, and use a forklift as part of daily tasks to ensure clean, available totes and efficient production flow. Responsibilities Wash and sanitize totes and containers using hoses, brushes, and approved cleaning agents in accordance with safety and hygiene guidelines. Inspect totes and containers for damage, wear, or defects and promptly report any issues to the supervisor. Operate cleaning equipment and tools, including hand tools and power tools, to complete tote washing and related cleaning tasks. Follow established protocols for handling, storing, and disposing of cleaning materials and chemicals safely. Assist with tanker offloading by using pumps to process incoming tanker trucks according to procedures. Read and follow bills of materials to confirm the correct tanks and locations where incoming materials will be pumped. Confirm and verify tank assignments before pumping materials to ensure accuracy and prevent cross-contamination. Operate a forklift safely to move totes, containers, and materials, and transition into full-time forklift operation after going direct, as required. Support general production, assembly, packaging, and inspection tasks as needed to meet operational demands. Collaborate with team members to ensure totes and containers are cleaned and available in a timely manner for production and logistics needs. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace, adhering to all facility safety procedures and guidelines. Flex between departments as needed to support different stages of production and material handling. Essential Skills Proven forklift experience and ability to operate a forklift safely in a production or warehouse environment. Experience with tote washing or similar cleaning and sanitization tasks in a manufacturing or logistics setting. Ability to use hoses, brushes, and cleaning agents while remaining comfortable working in wet conditions. Experience using pumps to process incoming tanker trucks or similar liquid transfer operations. Ability to read and interpret bills of materials to ensure accurate handling and routing of materials. Capability to confirm and track tanks and storage locations for incoming materials. Willingness and ability to complete required DOT training for handling and processing materials. Experience with general production, general labor, or assembly work in an industrial environment. Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Basic machine operation skills related to production, packaging, or inspection activities. Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety, hygiene, and operational procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a paint manufacturing facility or similar industrial environment. Experience in packaging and inspection processes within a production setting. Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and department needs. Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with production and logistics teams. Reliability and consistency in following established cleaning, safety, and quality protocols. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Salem, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
