Assembler / Production Worker

Position Overview:

The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for performing repetitive, detail-oriented assembly tasks to produce residential gas meters. This role requires precision, strong hand-eye coordination, and the ability to maintain quality and efficiency in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assemble gas meter components following standardized procedures and production schedules. Perform mechanical and basic electrical assembly using hand tools, power tools, and fixtures. Follow detailed work instructions, including color coding, PVC thermal welding, and thread taping. Conduct basic testing of assembled components to ensure functionality and quality standards are met. Read and interpret simple assembly drawings, layouts, and work instructions. Accurately record work hours and production data in ERP systems (e.g., SAP), as required. Complete all required production and quality documentation. Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards. Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with 5S and continuous improvement practices. Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in daily housekeeping audits. Ensure internal and external customer expectations are consistently met.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required. 3-5 years of experience in mechanical assembly or a similar manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical aptitude demonstrated through work experience, technical training, or hands-on activities. Ability to follow detailed instructions and perform precise, repetitive tasks with accuracy.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit, stand, and use hands continuously throughout the shift. Frequent walking, writing, and computer use. Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. Occasional bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs. Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures (0°F to 120°F), noise, dust, and industrial surfaces such as concrete. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
