Job Title:
Production Associate Job Description The Production Associate accurately pulls, measures, and stages ingredients for the mixing process to produce high-quality pet supplements and pet food products. This role follows detailed batch sheets, uses various measuring tools to ensure precise ingredient quantities, and supports the mixing team by preparing batches, maintaining inventory organization, and upholding strict food safety and cleanliness standards in a modern production facility. Responsibilities Read and follow batch sheets that list all ingredient types and amounts for specific products. Use a push cart to travel to designated storage locations, pull individual ingredients, and load them onto the cart for batching. Verify that bin location, product number, and product description all match to ensure the correct ingredients are selected. Transport dry, powder, and liquid ingredients to the mixing station and prepare clean, empty tubs for batching. Measure ingredients using digital scales, analog scales, measuring cups, and other measuring tools to achieve 100% accuracy according to batch sheets. Seal all bulk ingredient containers after use and return them to the correct shelving locations to maintain inventory organization and readiness for future orders. Perform supplemental tasks such as re-stocking shelves, assisting with the mixing process as needed, cleaning tubs and tools, and supporting other production areas. Follow all company rules and policies, including attendance standards, OSHA safety requirements, and Food Safety policies at all times. Produce high-quality, reliable, and safe products that meet customer specifications for pets. Meet daily production objectives by managing effort and intensity to achieve production targets. Demonstrate a team-first attitude and willingly help in areas that support overall team success. Follow all Food Safety Policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and company guidelines. Clean and sanitize assigned areas within the facility to maintain a hygienic production environment. Ensure First In, First Out (FIFO) is followed correctly on all raw materials. Accurately complete production records, logs, and other required documentation. Locate and pull correct items for production with a high level of accuracy. Accurately weigh items while maintaining safe handling practices. Avoid contamination of raw materials, finished products, equipment, and tools by following all food safety procedures. Use inventory, supplies, and materials responsibly to minimize waste. Report department needs, issues, and questions to leadership as appropriate. Effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to support smooth production flow. Maintain a clean and safe work environment and contribute to a positive, inclusive, and rewarding work culture. Assist with shipping, packing orders, packing boxes, and related warehouse tasks as needed. Participate in inventory control activities such as cycle counts and data entry when required. Operate a forklift if trained and authorized, supporting material movement and inventory management. Essential Skills Ability to weigh and measure products accurately using digital scales, analog scales, and measuring cups. Strong attention to detail to ensure correct ingredients, quantities, and locations are used for each batch. Ability to read and understand batch sheets, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and written instructions. Basic math skills, including the ability to convert kilos to pounds and work with fractions and decimals. Capability to lift up to 55-60 pounds repetitively and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift. Ability to accurately weigh items while maintaining safety and food safety standards. Ability to locate and pull the correct items for production from inventory. Capability to follow SOPs, GMPs, guidelines, and policies consistently. Ability to avoid contamination of raw materials and finished products by following all food safety procedures. Effective communication skills to interact with team members, supervisors, and other departments. Reliability in following attendance expectations and adhering to safety and food safety rules. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in cleaning, warehouse, feed mill, or production environments. Work experience in batching, mixing, filling, or packaging operations. Experience with packing orders, packing boxes, and general packaging tasks. Familiarity with inventory, inventory control, and cycle counting processes. Basic data entry skills for recording production and inventory information. Experience operating a forklift in a production or warehouse setting, if applicable. Comfort working around food-related ingredients such as Brewer's Yeast, Chicken, Beef, and Pork. Ability to maintain a team-focused mindset and support coworkers as needed. Willingness to learn product locations, inventory systems, and production processes. Commitment to following FIFO practices on all raw materials. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a brand-new, modern, and clean production facility where pet supplements and pet food products are manufactured. Production workers are regularly exposed to smells such as Brewer's Yeast, Chicken, Beef, and Pork, which may take a few days to adjust to. The position is on first shift, when production runs heaviest and multiple mixers operate throughout the shift. The environment follows strict GMP and food safety standards, including the use of hair nets, beard nets where applicable, and restrictions on jewelry. The dress code requires pants, a t-shirt, and closed-toe, non-slip shoes. Employees must keep a dedicated pair of non-slip shoes at work so that outside shoes are not worn in the production or warehouse areas. The facility includes active production, mixing, and warehouse zones, with a shift supervisor and another production worker available to provide training and support. The work involves regular heavy lifting, frequent movement, and working around production equipment and inventory storage areas while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workspace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Earl, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
