Job Description
Job Overview Strasburg Pallet Company, a wood pallet manufacturer, is seeking a dependable Entry-Level Shop Helper / Utility Worker to support daily production and general shop operations. This is a hands-on position involving lumber handling, pallet assembly, cleanup, material movement, and assistance with basic machinery. This energetic role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced production environment. You will support various shop functions, assist with assembly and material handling, and ensure smooth daily operations. No prior experience is necessary—just a positive attitude and a willingness to learn! The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-conscious, physically capable, and willing to learn Duties Sort, stack, count, and move lumber, pallets, and production materials. Assist with assembling, repairing, and dismantling wood pallets. Supply lumber and materials to production workstations. Operate basic hand and power tools after receiving proper training. Remove scrap wood, sawdust, nails, and debris from work areas. Maintain clean and organized production, storage, and loading areas. Inspect lumber and pallets for visible defects or damage. Help prepare finished pallets for stacking, storage, or shipment. Assist machine operators and other production employees as directed. Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment. Performs other general labor and shop -support duties as assigned Skills No previous experience required; manufacturing, warehouse, construction, or general-labor experience is helpful. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Willingness to learn and work as part of a team. Ability to work safely in a fast-paced production environment. Basic ability to count, measure, and identify materials. Must meet the employer's minimum age requirements for the work and equipment involved. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift. Ability to frequently bend, reach, push, pull, and lift materials. Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds, with heavier items handled using team lifting or mechanical assistance. Ability to perform repetitive tasks involving lumber and pallet components. Ability to work around wood dust, noise, moving equipment, and changing temperatures. Ability to wear required protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety footwear. Work Environment This position is based in an active wood-products manufacturing facility. Employees may work near saws, nailers, forklifts, conveyors, and other industrial equipment. The environment may be noisy, dusty, and subject to seasonal temperatures.
