Production Associate Job Description The Production Associate supports electronic manufacturing operations by performing routine production tasks such as light assembly, testing, inspection, machine operation, and packaging to help meet customer deadlines. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude and a positive, flexible attitude, and is also open to entry-level candidates who are eager to learn and grow in a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Support production manufacturing activities to ensure customer deadlines and production goals are met. Perform light industrial and general assembly tasks, such as inserting one hose into another by hand and assembling small components. Conduct testing and inspection of products to verify they meet quality standards and customer specifications. Operate production machinery and equipment according to detailed instructions and established procedures. Perform packaging tasks to prepare finished products for shipment or further processing. Follow detailed work instructions and company policies and procedures for all assigned tasks. Work on routine assignments where limited judgment is required and seek approval for any deviations from established processes. Maintain a working knowledge of production standards, throughput goals, and quality requirements. Use basic computer programs, including production software, Excel for documentation, and Outlook for communication. Meet individual throughput and productivity metrics while maintaining accuracy and quality of work. Monitor own work to ensure it meets quality standards and is free from scrap or rework. Identify opportunities to improve quality, reduce waste, and enhance work productivity and efficiency. Support and participate in improvement initiatives, such as 5S and other continuous improvement activities. Adapt to changes in work plans, priorities, and decisions as the production environment evolves. Work cooperatively within a team and with cross-functional teams as needed to support production goals. Openly and proactively share information, knowledge, and experience with co-workers to support team success. Communicate effectively with supervisors, keeping them informed of progress and escalating issues when necessary. Take on additional assignments as requested and demonstrate willingness to learn new tasks frequently. Maintain up-to-date certifications and training requirements relevant to the role. Use time effectively to manage workload and complete assignments on time without compromising quality. Maintain a level temperament and professional attitude in a fast-paced or stressful environment. Essential Skills Basic computer skills, including the ability to navigate production software, use basic Excel for documentation, and work with Outlook for email. Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand tools and small components. Ability to perform electronic assembly tasks, including through-hole or surface mount soldering (highly preferred). Ability to read and follow blueprints and detailed work instructions. Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work with minimal scrap or rework. Ability to sit and stand for the duration of the shift and frequently reach at waist level. Capacity to lift and handle light components, generally no more than 10-15 pounds, throughout the shift. Self-motivation with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with supervisors and co-workers. Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work plans, and decisions in the production environment. Consistent ability to complete assignments on time while meeting individual throughput and productivity goals. Willingness to learn and be comfortable completing different tasks on a frequent basis. High School diploma or equivalent GED is preferred. One or more years of related manufacturing, production, or similar experience is preferred, with equivalent combinations of education and experience considered. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous electronic manufacturing experience, particularly in through-hole or surface mount soldering, is a strong plus. Experience in retail, fast food/food service, or other manufacturing fields can be beneficial for success in this role. Experience using hand tools and working in a light industrial or general assembly environment. Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints and production documentation. Demonstrated ability to support improvement initiatives, such as 5S or other continuous improvement programs. Proactive approach to sharing information, knowledge, and experience with team members. Ability to maintain composure and a positive attitude in a fast-paced or stressful environment. Track record of meeting productivity and quality metrics in previous roles. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing environment with suitable lighting, comfortable temperatures, and a moderate noise level. The facility employs a large, stable workforce and offers a structured production setting focused on quality and efficiency. The position is on C shift, working every other Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in 12-hour shifts. During the shift, you may choose to sit or stand for portions of the day, but you should expect to stand regularly and perform frequent reaching at waist level. The work is light industrial and general assembly, with typical lifting limited to approximately 10-15 pounds. Production metrics and throughput goals are clearly defined, and you will work with standard manufacturing tools, electronic assembly equipment, computers, and basic office software to complete your tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nampa, ID. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
