Job Title:
Production Worker Job Description The Production Worker prepares batches of paint, sealants, and coatings in a fast-paced production environment by accurately following ingredient lists and operating machinery to complete each batch. This hybrid role supports multiple areas of production, including batching, mixing, machine start-up, container filling, and preparing finished products for shipment, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Responsibilities Prepare batches of paint, sealants, and coatings by following ingredient lists and ensuring the correct ingredients and quantities are used for each batch. Set up, start up, and operate production machinery safely and efficiently to mix and complete each batch. Monitor the batching and mixing process to maintain consistent quality and identify any issues or irregularities. Fill completed batches into the correct size containers according to customer requirements and work orders. Label, seal, and prepare filled containers for shipping, ensuring accuracy and readiness for transport. Assist in multiple areas of production as needed, performing a hybrid mix of batching, mixing, machine operation, and general production tasks. Read and follow work orders, basic blueprints, and production documentation to complete tasks correctly and on time. Perform visual inspections of products and containers to verify quality, correct fill levels, and proper labeling. Support inventory control activities by helping track materials used, reporting low stock, and handling materials accurately. Operate a forklift to move materials, batches, and finished products safely within the facility, when qualified. Use basic math skills to measure, weigh, and calculate ingredient quantities and verify production counts. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures, including the proper use of required personal protective equipment. Collaborate with a production team of approximately 12 people, communicate effectively, and assist teammates as needed to meet production goals. Adapt to wearing multiple hats in the production and warehouse environment, taking on tasks where needed to support smooth operations. Essential Skills At least 2 years of production experience for the hybrid production role. At least 1 year of forklift experience for the hybrid production role. Hands-on experience with machine operation in a production or manufacturing environment. Experience with general production tasks, including batching and mixing. Ability to read and follow work orders and basic blueprints. Understanding of inventory control concepts and ability to explain how inventory control works. Strong basic math skills for measuring, weighing, and verifying quantities. Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machinery and production equipment. Ability to perform visual inspection and maintain a strong eye for detail. Willingness and ability to work in a hybrid role, supporting multiple areas of production and warehouse operations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in both production and warehouse environments, with transferable skills across roles. Comfort working with paint, coatings, and sealants in a production setting. Ability to multitask and wear multiple hats in a dynamic environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a small production team. Reliability and consistency in following procedures, safety guidelines, and quality standards. Work Environment This role is based in a production facility that manufactures batches of paint, coatings, and sealants. The environment may have noticeable odors from paint and sealant products, and the facility uses two clean air machines that cycle the air six times per hour to help maintain fresh air. Typical hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, providing a consistent daytime schedule. You work as part of a production team of about 12 people, using production machinery, batching and mixing equipment, and forklifts as needed. The dress code includes steel-toe footwear, jeans without holes, and a work-appropriate shirt, reflecting a hands-on, safety-focused production setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Bend, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr.
