Job Title:
Feeder / Material Handler Job Description This role supports a high-volume plastic packaging production line by loading raw materials into machines, keeping equipment running smoothly, and handling finished product. You will assist with machine setup and changeovers, perform basic quality checks, and maintain a clean and safe work area. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, proven forklift experience, and the ability to perform in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with frequent overtime opportunities. Responsibilities Load raw materials into production machines to ensure continuous operation of the lines. Monitor equipment performance and promptly communicate any issues or irregularities to the appropriate personnel. Assist with machine setup, changeovers, and downtime activities to minimize production interruptions. Perform basic quality checks on materials and finished products, including visual inspections, labeling verification, and counting. Handle, move, and stage materials and finished goods, including palletizing and preparing items for shipment or further processing. Operate a forklift safely to transport materials within the warehouse and production areas, especially in high-traffic zones. Support machine tending activities by feeding materials, clearing jams, and helping maintain optimal machine throughput. Follow established production, safety, and quality procedures at all times. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with facility standards. Adapt to changing production demands, including adjustments to tasks, priorities, and shift timing as needed. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily production goals and productivity standards. Essential Skills General production or manufacturing experience, preferably in a high-volume environment. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand, operate, and assist in troubleshooting production machinery. Current or recent forklift operating experience in a warehouse or production setting, with the ability to maneuver safely in high-traffic areas. Experience with material handling, including loading, staging, and moving raw materials and finished goods. Ability to perform visual inspections, counting, labeling, and basic quality checks on products. Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment while maintaining safety and quality standards. Flexibility to work overtime as needed and adjust shift start or end times based on production demands. Strong attention to detail and commitment to following safety protocols and standard operating procedures. Motivation to take on extra hours and support changing operational needs. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a plastic packaging or similar manufacturing facility is preferred. Experience with palletizing and preparing products for shipment or further processing. Background in machine tending or assisting with machine setup and changeovers. Proven ability to quickly grasp technical concepts related to production equipment. Comfort working in a structured, process-driven environment with defined productivity targets. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a fast-paced plastic packaging manufacturing facility, working as a Material Handler in the finishing department. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with frequent overtime and the need to remain flexible to adjust start or end times by approximately one hour based on production requirements. The environment is production-focused, with active machinery, material handling equipment, and forklift traffic. Team members work on their feet for most of the shift, handling materials, operating equipment, and maintaining cleanliness and safety in their work areas, in alignment with facility standards and safety protocols. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Warwick, RI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
