Job Title:
General Production Worker Job Description This role involves performing a variety of production tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, including operating extrusion and other production machines, handling materials, and supporting assembly and packaging operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality output. Responsibilities Perform a wide range of production tasks in a manufacturing environment, following established procedures and safety guidelines. Operate extrusion machines and other production equipment safely and efficiently, monitoring performance throughout the shift. Set up, run, and adjust machines as needed to maintain product quality and consistent output. Assist with general labor tasks such as loading and unloading materials, moving products, and staging items for production. Support assembly operations by using hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools to complete tasks accurately. Perform packaging duties, including packing finished products, labeling, and preparing items for shipment or storage. Use a forklift to move materials and finished goods as needed, following proper material handling practices. Read and interpret basic blueprints or work instructions to understand production requirements and specifications. Use tape measures and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure products meet quality standards. Identify and troubleshoot basic mechanical or operational issues with machines and report problems promptly. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper handling and storage of tools, materials, and equipment. Follow all safety policies and procedures, including the correct use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of machinery. Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly with coworkers and supervisors to meet production goals. Adapt to changing production priorities and tasks while maintaining attention to detail and quality. Essential Skills Experience performing production tasks in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in operating production and extrusion machines. Ability to perform general labor duties, including lifting, loading, and material handling. Experience with general production and machine operation in an industrial setting. Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to understand how machines and equipment function. Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Skill in using a tape measure and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances. Capability to read and follow basic blueprints or work instructions. Experience with packaging and packing operations in a production environment. Ability to identify and troubleshoot basic machine or process issues and escalate when necessary. Comfort working 12-hour shifts on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule (including days and nights). Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating a forklift or other material handling equipment. Prior Past in extrusion processes or plastics manufacturing. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to learn new machines, processes, and procedures as needed. Reliable attendance and punctuality to support continuous production operations. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing facility that operates on a 2-2-3 schedule, with 12-hour shifts that rotate every two weeks between day (7:00 to 19:00) and night (19:00 to 7:00) shifts. You will work around extrusion and other production machinery, forklifts, and material handling equipment in a fast-paced, production-driven setting. The role requires standing for extended periods, handling materials, and working near moving mechanical equipment. You will use hand tools, power tools, tape measures, and other basic mechanical tools as part of daily tasks. The facility follows standard industrial safety practices, and appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment are required to ensure a safe and efficient work environment Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Blythewood, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $20.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
