Job Title:
General Production Worker Job Description The General Production Worker operates production machinery in injection mold, blow mold, and assembly areas to support efficient manufacturing operations. This role involves performing general production and packaging tasks, inspecting products for quality, and working as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. No prior experience is required, and comprehensive on-the-job training is provided for individuals who are willing to work and learn. Responsibilities Operate production machinery in injection mold, blow mold, and assembly areas according to established procedures and safety guidelines. Perform general production and labor tasks, including material handling, machine loading and unloading, and basic equipment operation. Assemble components and finished products with attention to detail and adherence to quality standards. Package products accurately and efficiently, ensuring correct labeling and preparation for shipment or further processing. Inspect products and materials for defects or inconsistencies and report issues to the appropriate personnel. Follow manufacturing and production processes to maintain consistent output and meet daily production targets. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safety and efficiency on the production floor. Adhere to all safety rules, including proper use of required personal protective equipment for ear and eye protection. Comply with attendance and performance expectations, including adherence to the point system for reliability and conduct. Participate in training to learn machine operation, assembly techniques, and production processes as needed. Essential Skills Ability and willingness to learn general production machine operation, including injection mold, blow mold, and assembly equipment. Capability to perform general labor tasks in a manufacturing environment, including standing for extended periods and handling materials. Basic understanding or experience in production, manufacturing, or food service operations is helpful but not required. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work within established procedures and safety guidelines. Attention to detail for performing inspection, assembly, and packaging tasks accurately. Reliability in attendance and adherence to workplace policies, including the point-based attendance system. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in general production, manufacturing, construction, assembly, or food service is beneficial but not mandatory. Comfort working with machinery and equipment in a fast-paced production environment. Willingness to work assigned shifts, including first, second, or third shift, and to perform overtime within established limits. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet production goals. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing facility that is not climate controlled, so temperatures may vary with the seasons. The environment involves working around production machinery, assembly stations, and packaging areas, requiring consistent attention to safety procedures. Ear and eye protection are required, and tennis shoes are acceptable; steel-toe footwear is not required. The workplace uses a point-based system for attendance and conduct, with termination at eight points, emphasizing reliability and accountability. Shifts follow Central Standard Time, with three standard schedules: first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., second shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and third shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Base pay is higher for off-shift work, and typical weekly hours are around 50, with overtime paid at 1.5x between 41 and 52 hours and double time for more than 52 hours. Employees cannot work more than 12 hours per day or 64 hours per week, providing clear boundaries for workload and rest. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Whitwell, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.39/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
