Description Benefits Questions Duties and Responsibilities Essential Job Functions:
Must have a strong background in surface water treatment plant operation, troubleshooting and repair; leadership capabilities; strong interpersonal skills; experience in major project oversight, ability to work with considerable independence and latitude, and a desire to learn all aspects of the division's operation. Works under the immediate supervision of and closely with the Water Production Superintendent and assumes the duties of the superintendent in his/her absence. Participates in emergency response as needed.

Position is at a drinking water production plant and involves working with water in various stages of treatment. May be exposed to noise, dust/mites, unpleasant odors, toxic chemicals, chlorine gas and electrical hazards. Works Monday-Friday, 8:00 - 5:00 p.m. and overtime when necessary.
Minimum Essential Qualifications Knowledge :
Considerable knowledge of methods and techniques used in drinking water treatment; Considerable knowledge of federal and state (Texas) drinking water rules and regulations ; Knowledge of industrial safety procedures including safe handling of chlorine.
Skills/Abilities:
Skill in operating a municipal surface water plant.
Physical Requirements:
Frequently requires standing, bending, walking, and lifting of objects. Requires excellent eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Climbing stairs and ladders.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or Associate degree in science or engineering preferred and three (3) years of progressively responsible work in the supervision of municipal drinking water plant. Work experience may be considered in lieu of education. TCEQ Class B Surface Water License required or ability to obtain in 12 months. Other Applicant selected for hire shall be subject to drug/alcohol screen test. This position requires 100% on-site work.
