50 / per hour Full time Apply Now Back Job Description # Progressive Press Operator ## Position Summary The Progressive Press Operator installs, operates, and removes dies and raw-material coils used to manufacture parts in a progressive stamping environment. This position operates up to three machines within a manufacturing cell and is responsible for equipment setup, safety inspections, quality checks, production monitoring, and minor maintenance. ## Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Machine Operation and Die Setup
- 35%•Operate up to three machines within a manufacturing cell.
- Install, set up, and remove dies according to established procedures.
- Complete required safety and quality checks before and during production.
- Follow all operating procedures and production specifications.
- Material and Coil Setup
- 15%•Operate a hoist to load and position raw-material coils.
- Feed material through the press using established safety procedures.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment.
- Production Monitoring
- 15%•Monitor dies and press stations throughout the production run.
- Identify stations or equipment that are not operating correctly.
- Make authorized adjustments to maintain safe and efficient production.
- Quality Control
- 10%•Visually inspect finished parts for defects.
- Use gauges, calipers, micrometers, and steel rules to verify part dimensions.
- Perform and document all required Statistical Process Control (SPC) checks.
- Safety and Workstation Setup
- 10%•Install required machine guards and verify proper operation.
- Adjust air-ejection pressure as needed.
- Position scrap hoppers and catch pans correctly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- First-Piece Inspection
- 5%•Submit the first completed part to Quality Control for approval before beginning the full production run.
- Troubleshooting
- 5%•Work with the supervisor, lead, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot tooling and machine problems.
- Assist with identifying production issues and implementing authorized corrections.
- Minor Maintenance and Tool Repair
- 5%•Perform minor maintenance and authorized repairs on presses and dies.
- Report equipment or tooling issues requiring additional maintenance. ## Additional Responsibilities
- Follow all company safety policies and operating procedures.
- Report unsafe equipment, conditions, or practices immediately.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records.
- Support team production goals and continuous-improvement efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. ## Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least one year of related manufacturing, press operation, or machine-operation experience is highly preferred.
- Previous machine-shop or progressive-stamping experience is helpful. ## Required Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to operate multiple machines within a manufacturing cell.
- Ability to install and remove dies and raw-material coils.
- Ability to operate an overhead hoist safely.
- Ability to use hand tools, including wrenches, screwdrivers, mallets, and Allen wrenches.
- Ability to use micrometers, calipers, steel rules, and gauges.
- Ability to perform visual and dimensional quality inspections.
- Ability to recognize defective parts and equipment problems.
- Ability to read and follow SPC requirements, production specifications, and work instructions.
- Ability to make sound decisions when situations are not specifically covered by supervisory instructions.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. ## Workplace Competencies

## Work Environment This position works in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility. The employee may be exposed to moving machinery, industrial noise, metal materials, and other conditions common to a production environment.
