Quoting Specialist - Plastic Extrusion Manufacturing

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Quoting Specialist to join our Plastic Extrusion Manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive quotes for custom plastic extrusion projects, ensuring customer specifications are met with precision and efficiency. Your expertise will help drive sales growth, streamline the quoting process, and foster strong relationships with clients. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate with sales, engineering, and production teams to gather project specifications and technical requirements for accurate quoting. Develop detailed cost estimates considering raw materials, tooling, labor, machine time, and overhead costs. Review customer drawings, specifications, and requests to ensure feasibility and compliance with manufacturing capabilities. Review and confirm material specifications coverage, arranging testing for uncovered specifications. Prepare clear, comprehensive quotes that highlight pricing, lead times, and terms of service for customer approval. Route customer Purchase Orders (POs), Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and other documentation for proper quoting and tracking. Communicate proactively with clients and other departments to clarify project details, answer questions, and finalize quotes as needed. Test and request updates from sales and engineering regarding open blueprint issues and concerns. Request and follow up on testing samples, providing material test results to relevant parties. Assist with Tool Prove-in validation and provide customer service support related to tooling information. Initiate actions to prevent non-conformances and document any product or process issues. Maintain organized records of all quotes issued, follow-up activities, and customer interactions for future reference. Promote continuous improvement of the quoting process while adhering to safety guidelines. Perform other duties as required by the manager, including validating drawings and processing orders for backup rotary dies.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Knowlege of extrusion and frabrication in manufacturing environment or field, highly desirable. Understanding of blueprint interpretation, product measurement, document control methods and quality systems. Strong mechanical knowledge related to plastics extrusion processes and manufacturing equipment such as CNC machines, and fabrication tools. Understanding of customer (internal/external) requirements and how this job can contribute to meeting requirements of Global Enterprises. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and basic computer skills for data entry and documentation tasks. Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC). Ability to operate hand tools, calipers, micrometers, precision measuring instruments, and other quality inspection tools accurately. Knowledge of materials handling practices within warehouse environments to estimate logistics costs effectively. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles to identify cost-saving opportunities in quoting procedures. Familiar with IATF 16949, EMS and Quality Management System Awareness requirements pertaining to job. Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, material quantities, and costs efficiently. Manufacturing experience combined with understanding of safety protocols involving extrusion and other industrial equipment. Excellent communication skills for clear documentation and customer interactions; ability to work collaboratively across departments is essential. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail. 2 or more years of experience in quoting or sales support in manufacturing environment, preferred. High School diploma or equivalent, required.

Able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, both sitting at the desk and standing when presenting. Able to move throughout the building walking, climbing stairs, and navigating a manufacturing floor to access areas, Able to communicate with staff and attend meetings. Bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling and reaching to access equipment, supplies or files. Able to move equipment, boxes or supplies up to 10 to 25 pounds, with heavier objects requiring assistance. Able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, and telephones. Visual abilities such as near and far visual acuity for safety and in a manufacturing setting.
