Printpack is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Utility Assistant for the Converting plant in Grand Prairie, TX. The Utility Assistant provides essential support to the operations by performing various tasks including equipment operation and support in the following departments (Rewinding / Press / Extrusion / RSI / Finishing / Lamination and Material Handling (forklift). This role requires flexibility and the ability to perform multiple functions to ensure continuous production flow. This position reports to the Shift Supervisor. This will be 12-hr day shift opening on a 3/2 rotating schedule from 7am-7pm: Sun/Wed/Thurs; Mon/Tues/Fri/Sat.
Key Responsibilities:
Operates and adjusts various machines during operator breaks to maintain production continuity Prepares and stages materials for equipment operations Ensures proper machine setup Conducts routine safety inspections of equipment and work areas Maintains cleanliness and organization of work environment Monitors product quality and performs quality checks Executes rework operations as needed to meet quality standards Supports production team members in various capacities Assists in material handling and inventory management Maintains compliance with safety protocols and procedures
Education & Experience:
Demonstrated stable work history
Required Skills:
Problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities Manufacturing experience preferred Basic computer proficiency including email Ability to accurately read and use measuring tools Strong attention to detail Effective communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Additional Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older Must pass pre-employment assessments Drug screening required Background check required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to accurately read and use measuring tools Strong time management capabilities Basic troubleshooting skills Attention to detail Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Effective communication skills Familiarity with safety protocols Basic mathematical skills Understanding of production processes and basic machine operations Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Demands:
Capability to lift and move up to 50 pounds Ability to climb, kneel, bend, and squat Proficiency in grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine motor skills Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to climb ladders safely Ability to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses) Forklift certification or ability to obtain forklift and pallet jacks
Work Conditions:
The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to: Noise levels above 80 dB Operation of complex machinery Solvents, fumes and inks Variable Temperatures Must be able to work flexible shifts May require nights, weekends, and holidays An additional $2.50/hr premium for NIGHT Shift only between the hours of 7pm-7am. Any hours worked outside of 7pm-7am will not receive the premium
