Copan Coffee Roasters is a family-owned specialty coffee company focused on direct-trade relationships, ethically sourced coffees, small-batch roasting, and exceptional quality. Based in Tomball, Texas, we roast and fulfill specialty coffee for retail, wholesale, and private label partners throughout the United States. We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented individual with coffee experience who is passionate about quality and wants to build a career in specialty coffee.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Coffee Roaster / Production Assistant supports daily roasting operations, quality control, inventory management, and production workflow. This position plays a critical role in maintaining consistency, efficiency, and product quality throughout the roasting process. The ideal candidate has prior barista or roasting experience, enjoys hands-on production work, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow daily production schedules and roasting work orders Weigh, stage, and prepare green coffee for roasting Operate roasting, grinding, and packaging equipment Monitor roast profiles and maintain production consistency Record production data, inventory movements, and roasting logs Perform daily cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of equipment Assist with quality control sampling and cupping preparation Support shipping, receiving, and warehouse organization Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment Follow all company, food safety, and production procedures
QUALIFICATIONS 1-2
years of barista or coffee roasting experience required Passion for specialty coffee and continuous learning Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to follow procedures and work independently Comfortable working in a production environment Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the day Reliable transportation and strong attendance record Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Professional coffee roasting experience Espresso preparation and manual brewing methods Coffee cupping and sensory evaluation Warehouse, production, or manufacturing experience Customer-facing coffee or farmers market experience
SCHEDULE
Full-Time Monday-Friday 40 Hours Per Week Occasional weekends as needed
